We have more hits, more XBH, more total bases and they had 3 errors.

How are we down 8-4?

Just as soon as we got excited for Walker turning it around he becomes Jose Abreu again in a crucial home series

Astros finish the homestand 5-5

23-29 in their last 52 games

but the West division is terrible, so much of that doesn't matter

Are there that many yank fans there tonight to hear that much cheering after the Walker K?

Ort and Walker owe the fans in attendance refunds tonight. This loss is on them

Correa had a 2-0 hanging curveball center cut that should've gone 400+ feet

Not sure I'd say it was hanging. It broke like a mf, buckled Correa. But it was probably a little higher than he wanted it.

Always are when they're in town. They come from Katy and the Woodlands. Cowboys jerseys in the trunk. Always as obnoxiously loud as they can be.

7 walks and a wild pitch by us helped them. The Judge (9 for 13 in SBs) and Altuve (9 for 16 in SBs) caught stealing were a wash.

Really it was just the usual terrible sequencing by us. 2 HRs, 3 doubles, 10 hits, 3 walks. and 3 Yankees errors = 4 runs. We finally find some power and it's the same result as 10 singles, 3 walks, and 3 gift errors (one of which was an out).

Javier did enough to get the loss in his 4.1 innings. Even the last game when he threw 6 innings with no hits he gave up 3 walks and a HBP. It felt more fortunate than overpowering.

In 5 games and 20.1 innings pitched he's given up 15 hits, 12 walks, a HBP, and 2 wild pitches.

As bad as the bats have been, I don't know where we're going to continue to find pitching. We can't run out of patience with Framber until the season's over.

Didn't get to watch tonight, but we've got another Bingo update as Cristian Javier gets his 5th start.

The white-hot Mathguy64 is up into the upper half of the standings with his 5th square
amercer got his 4th.

Yordan continues to try and salvage his squares for those true believers.

Now hitting .273, 27 points from .300. He's come up 67 points in 9 games.

Now with an OPS of .811, up 61 points from YESTERDAY. Pena is the team leader at .845.
When Alvarez came back on August 26th, he was 197 points behind Pena (.842-.645).

Guys has every tool….except with a Joey Gallo level hit tool without the walks. He's a lefty with pop who can play a very good CF so he will be a big league player.

Gotta win 2/3 this weekend. No tiptoeing around it this is a huge series.

You're down 4-3 to the rangers and need the tie breaker

Split the homestand. Meh. At some point after the break we flipped back to being better on the road anyway.

I'm really fascinated by that Cardinal team being so bad. They were 88-74 in 1996 and 83-79 in 1998, but still a few years away from being the super power - from 2000-2015 they went to the playoffs 12 times, 4 World Series appearances, and 2 titles.

'97 was the year after Ozzie retired and poor Royce Clayton had to take over at shortstop. They traded for McGwire at the deadline and then were able to retain him (thank you LaRussa). He was about to be a free agent and said the Cardinal fans being so great was his reason to stay - he signed a 4-year extension in September before he even became a free agent - the next game after the deal was done, when he came up, the fans gave him a standing ovation that lasted several pitches into the at-bat and then he hit a FIVE HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN FOOT home run into the upper deck.

Obviously his rep is majorly tainted by the roids, but what a moment that must have been.

Look at him hit this one 538 feet off Randy Johnson in the Kingdome in 97 before the trade. Randy Johnson's body language is fantastic.

Aroidis Garcia a couple of years ago was huge in the upper body.

Arozzarena was huge 3 years ago.

Both have tapered down and lost some of that mass. I wonder why? They also aren't hitting like they did for power.

Stanton has slimmed a little since he was in Miami.

Guys have discovered that being twitchy is just as or more important than being bulky.

Walker back down to -.3 bWAR. His OPS+ (92) is closer Dubon (85) and Cam (86) than league average (100).

His OBP is less than .300 (.298) and his slugging is close to dropping back under .400 (.402). He striking out at a higher rate and walking at a lower rate than at any point in his career once he played a full season.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/w/walkech02.shtml

He's combining that with a -1.4 dWAR (his previous worst was -.3). It's not hard to imagine he'll be worse next year, although hopefully not 2nd season Abreu bad. If he's just this bad we won't have to pay him not to play.
