so then you scrap the 6-man...and go with your best and healthiest five

at this point Hunter Brown will have to pitch in the final series of the year and thus be unavailable for the wildcard series

Jayden Murray?

Zach Cole?

Zach Cole call up might be soft confirmation that Chas is indeed non-tender bait. We salute you for 2022/23. One last Chas Chomp for the road.

This isn't ideal..

He's going to throw great and the offense won't help him.

5.2 innings, 1 run is my prediction for him. And he exits in a 1-1 tie game

He pitches a no-hitter with 38 strikeouts. Don't ask me how.

That will save him from the indignity of losing a 2-0 game in the Wild Card series, to look on the bright side.

It would be kind of uncool if the Astros DFA'd Trammel after releasing this today.

I believe there is an open spot on the 40 man roster so no need to DFA anyone. They'll probably just send down Salazar as the corresponding move.

The cubs are out here getting hits with RISP and scoring multiple runs without a homerun. That can't be legal right?

Cubs scoring with men on base. What is this devilry.

It's a feature you normally only see with good teams.

Most teams consider it a feature. We consider it a bug.

I'm absolutely stunned they called him up FWIW

IMO it's already been shown that one individual player doesn't drive the offense, the guys Joe plugs in just have to hit as a team and that's that. A couple disconnected singles won't mean anything if there's nobody behind them driving in runs. I'm sure he'll be available to pinch hit.

It's five alarm fire time and they just need dudes to hit the ball hard, and hopefully in the air. That's my read on it. There just doesn't seem to be much downside. They already are struggling so if it doesn't change, at least you tried lol.

Just me talking here, I have no problem with Lance having a full offseason and trying to make the bullpen/swing role next spring training, he does seem to be someone who takes his craft seriously (maybe to his own detriment).

You can't promise him anything, but I assume they don't just dump him in the offseason. But you can't have him rostered down the stretch if you can't trust him.

How much is left on Lance's contract?

I imagine he'll be on the roster next season in some form.

Believe it was five years after 2021, so next year would be the last year of the deal.

Hail Mary. It's desperate times and it's desperate measures.

Worst that happens is he cant hit the ball and that's already the norm for everyone in the lineup. If he finds some magic it's a bonus.

and another thing...

for all the injuries and so forth...

the Astros are a very respectable 36-36 on the road this year -- nothing wrong with that

just 2 teams in the American League having a winning road record -- the Tigers and Yankees

-----

but the Astros' home record of only 43-32 is an issue -- and where they lag behind the other AL playoff contenders

the injuries are a problem at Daikin...not so much on the road

another strange aspect of the 2025 season
