On a side note, one of the funnier things I have heard recently is team X isn't going to try or team Y is going to purposefully screw over the Astros. Always get a good chuckle out of that mentality. I understand playoff teams are going to try a little harder and manage differently than clubs with no shot, but the idea teams are looking at us to see what we need to happen and performing based off of it is wild talk.

Also, at the end of the day we control our own destiny. Win at least 2/3 against the Mariners and you will have nobody to blame but yourself if you don't end up atop the division.

Not that they won't try. But giving guys games off and setting rotations absolutely happens. Would be nice if they didn't have that option. Especially the dodgers because they play the Ms.

It's only not good depending on the outcome of this weekend's series. If LAD only wins 1 of 3 against SF (rivalry) and SD sweeps CWS or wins 2 of 3, they keep it pretty close to LAD.

MIL is only 3 games up on the 1 seed. If they have a good weekend and bump that up to 4 games, they may take a rest day against SD in that series.

I can think of many different ways LAD will still need to be competitive against SEA, at least for the 1st game of the series.

The A's won their 72nd game. They need to go 3-6 to get to 75 wins. Only 3 of us picked that square - myself, iBrad, and agproducer. If it hits, iBrad would make it a three way tie for first at 8 squares.

My pipe dream now is that everyone who picked the 8+ win streak gets the Square because the team wins 12 straight to end the year 93-69. 10 people picked that one.

7 picked the Rangers to miss the playoffs, so kudos to Arlington for doing its part so far.

the cubs and Astros apparently share a medical staff because Tucker is off to florida for a second opinion after missing 19 straight games. Not closing out his HR square just yet, but it's on life support.

Let's say they put Yordan on the IL as the corresponding move. Assuming it's backdated to Wednesday, his 15 days would not be used up by the time the wild card series comes around, right? Could he still be put on the roster if he makes a miraculous recovery?

That huge slump and now injury to close out the season probably cost Tucker $50 million on his big contract.

I imagine he'll still easily clear north of $400 million.
