Situations like this are something that needs to be addressed as part of the next CBA. Paying a guy like Garcia or LMJ full wages to do nothing for 2-3+ years is crippling to mid to small market clubs.

They are tied with the Yankees but the Yankees M# against the Astros is 1 and soon to be zero after they beat the White Sox tonight.

I was thinking more along the lines of the owners putting money from the luxury tax into an insurance pool that would pay the cost of certain contracts for non-luxury tax teams that are not completed due to long term injuries. Or something like that. Not something I have put a lot of thought into, but with the increasing frequency of multi year pitching losses for multiple years, something needs to happen to make it feasible for mid and lower tier teams to stay competitive when they lose multiple guys to TJ or other surgeries for multiple years at a time.
