Listening to Dana's interview, basically the only reason we didn't make the postseason was the injuries.

Dana with the no confidence on Joe

'He's under contract….I haven't thought about it.'

First half Framber is a legit #1 ace.

Second half Framber was a complete mess. September Framber should have been suspended. I think a lesser pitcher with lesser value gets cut for what he did.

IMHO it was 75% of the reason. Let's not sugar coat this. The injuries were historically bad.

This last week and yesterday was the annual reminder that those games in April and May that we drop against crappy teams actually matter.

What was the game we lost this year that was just atrocious? I recall a game the bullpen blew that was basically an auto win until the 7th inning of that game.
What do you boys want for breakfast BBQ ?.....OK Chili.

Looks like these second-rate umps are getting in their last licks in for the season.

Yep. Every game is equal in the standings no matter if it's April 1 or September 30. Also tiebreakers matter

I bet his veteran teammates loved it when he drilled his own catcher with a fastball after he overruled the catcher to throw his own pitch and gave up a grand slam. Veterans love that kind of stuff.

one game that comes to mind...

the series finale in Miami on August 6th

if Espada starts Pena...the Astros win and finish the sweep

but Joe was hung up on "rest" and went to the Dubon crutch

Yeah, that was a lot of words to not say "yes, he is coming back." If he is coming back, you answer that wuestion in less than 6 words.

Yep. One of my pet peeves is always the "early in the season when the games aren't as important" spiel. Every year, there are teams that miss the playoffs because they didn't play to win those "less important" games.

and as others have mentioned...

the 4-game sweep at home to the A's in late July

the Astros were curbstomped in game 2 by the score of 15-3

and then proceeded to lose the next 2 games 5-1 and 7-1 (which included an H.B. start)

where was the fight after getting embarrassed in game 2?

something was clearly wrong right there

Here's what all this meas.

Marvin's first with 10 squares. He's got the Judge square open.

To my Astros brethren,

I humbly accept your adulation and unequivocal reverence. As my founding membership of the Fire Cintron bandwagon indicates, I use my immense knowledge only for good.

Let's regroup, rest up, and go win the off-season.

The 162nd game & the Astros finally decide to be offensive (that is, in scoring runs - not personality).

Gotta love guys finally stepping up when the season is over … not when we need them to… but afterwards. Looking at you Walker, Sanchez and Diaz

Astros have a logjam of players at multiple positions going forward.

Paredes and Walker

Jose, Urias, Matthews at 2B

Cole, Sanchez, Cam, Dezenzo, Yordan (when he's not DH) at the corner OF spots.

Then guys like Melton who could split time with Jake if he could hit.

Several folks need to be moved. Dana has some trade bait.

The game that sticks out to me was earlier this month against the Blue Jays where Abreu blew a 2-run lead in the 9th, and we lost.

I wonder where all of the sunshine pumpers are now that the season shuts down today?

At this moment in time, we're down to 9 more offensive outs. Sad, but it didn't have to be this way.

Should have let the Space Cowboys roster play these last two series. They probably would have won 2/3 of each.

That was also the game Altuve loafed into an out at 3B and loafed on a ball hit to him at 2B while Vladdy made two great plays.

One of the worst losses of the season.

Knowing what we know now about Altuve's foot, I wonder if he was loafing due to the foot pain.

yes, there's not room for Brice or Cole on the opening day roster next year

two of the veterans under contract have to be traded
Mathguy64

Walker and who?

You aren't trading Jose and it seems clear the LF experiment was a bust. So Brice is blocked unless he can become a jack of all trades and replace Dubon.

Can't trade Carlos. Not trading Pena. Not trading Yordan.

None of the corner OF guys are really CF material.

I can see Jake or someone else being sent with Walker to maybe offset the money.

Expect a lot of this Cole. 0/3 with 3 K's and a walk. He has a place on this team though, specifically as long as your primary CF is right-handed.

The weird thing about this offseason is clearly offense is a priority but where can you realistically upgrade? We have a lot of OF's and infield is set when everyone is healthy (by set I'm including the immovable object that is CW's contract). You almost have to just get new hitting coaches and hope a new message helps. Not sure what we can do about Jake and CW being unable to hit at home other than trying to strategically give them more rest days at home.

41 rest days for Jake.

41 rest days for Walker.

Is that "strategic" enough?

So we have a glut of corner outfielders and no depth at all that can hit at CF and you want to trade Jake? Are we getting a LHH CF with power in return?

In 2015, 86-76 got us the 5th seed wild card.
Last year 88-74 won the division.
This year 87-75 eliminated us before the second to last day.

Moral of the story… 90 wins is the only way to feel safe
