I think Boch and Maddux are figuring that all out as we go. This team has several high leverage guys at its disposal when needed. Coulombe, Maton, Curvelo, Winn, Milner Martin and Sborz (when healthy). Should be no reason to ever trot Garcia out late in a tight game again.

I mentioned a few days ago that Garcia should become this year's Will Smith. Hide him away in the bullpen until we have a 5+ run lead in the 9th.

I think we have 3 SP locks: deGrom, Eovaldi, Kelly are likely our 1-2-3
3 Mid: Corbin, Leiter, and Gray
Martin/Sborz as final 2?

Every SP can get us at least 4.0 IP with 2 or less ERs. Probably even 1 or less.

deGrom has struggled as of late. Bochy indicated they are monitoring it and that deGrom says he is fine and just missing a spot. I suspect deGrom will get a skip or reduced IP for a bit, but he wants to compete.

If we are a WC team, we'll have:
WC (best of 3): G-G-G
at least 1 day off
ALDS (best of 5): G-G-X-G-G-X-G

This P is really crazy good.
We could very well setup the shortened game like a decade ago. Shutdown the 6-7-8 innings.

I think adding Kelly means Gray, Latz, and Rocker are no longer needed in the rotation.

I'm just playing devils advocate; we haven't shut anyone down in a hot minute outside of Eovaldi.

Until we hear otherwise, might as well scratch Sborz and replace him with Curvelo. Who knows when he will return.
And Martin? What is his ETA, mid-August or so, or longer than that? His veteran presence and experience could be used on the mound in the late innings for sure. Hopefully he can return to form sooner rather than later.

The only way I would use Garcia at the moment, for his sake, is if it is not a close game in the 7th. Let him go through that a couple of games, then re-introduce him to a higher leverage situation in the 7th. No way I would pitch him in the 9th. I think he is in his own head at this point.
