I agree, but I don't see CY or Bochy doing it.

I really hope getting Kelly at the deadline didn't negatively affect what they can do in the offseason. Between CY's reputation for being hyper competitive and him wanting to get Bochy what he needs to win another ring, he might have just screwed the organization for a while. Anything can happen if you get in the playoffs, but this team is so hard to watch that I just want them to hit the reset button and get some of these guys, coaches included, the hell out of here.

I'm already at that point. This group just isn't going to cut it. I would say Seager, Semien, Langford, Carter, Smith and maybe Higgy (of the position players) are who I would want to see back. Everyone else I am good with them playing for another team.

Jung and Burger could still give us something I think, but I wouldn't care too much if they were gone. Seen enough of Heim and Garcia as Rangers. Will always appreciate their roles (and they were big) in bringing us that World Series title.

News flash, the stadium the way it is what affords us guys like Nathan Eovaldi, Corey Seager, and Marcus Semien. Without them, we don't win a World Series.

You may not like the stadium, and that's okay. Not everyone does. But we average somewhere around 30k per game, so lots of people still do. Ticket revenue and sponsorships alone don't afford us what we have now. We need the ancillary revenue streams - that includes concerts, Texas Live, Live by Loews, Loews hotel, Choctaw stadium, and other properties owned by this ownership group.

Believe it or not, most teams envy what the Rangers have.

It's certainly not a bad place to watch a game. I think the inside of the stadium is pretty nice. Just can't believe they went so cheap on the outside, especially when their old ballpark was very nice in terms of the architecture.

They did well with the air conditioning and the food choices. And Texas Live is great to have.

Everything else about the stadium sucks. The fans badly wanted grass and they tried to compromise by selling everyone on how grasslike the fake grass they used would be. It's not. Because it's fake grass. And baseball fans don't give a damn about the concerts that you can hold there because they aren't going to them. And concert goers have plenty of other venues for that without adding another one.

And instead of having a beautiful stadium from the outside, they built the world's largest Lowe's home improvement store. Sucks.

Well said. There is a lot to dislike. The field level suites look terrible on tv. So does the cheap looking fake turf.

I'll say the open concourse is an improvement over the old place. But even that is junked up in lots of spots with vendors, coolers, bars, and structures that block the view.

I agree with what you are saying but what's funny is you just named 7/9 and said you were fine with them coming back. Thats exactly where I'm at, I'm ready to blow it up and then I name who'd I'd be ok with staying and it's basically all but Garcia/Heim. The fact is something is just off with this team. They just don't mesh well together and pick eachother up. Is that leadership? Bad luck? Personalities?…..no idea but it isn't working.

You clearly never saw Kevin Reimer play the outfield.

Yeah, but it was awesome when he charged the mound when the White Sox pitcher beaned him.

Yuck. Another tough loss similar to what we've seen countless times this year against good teams, average teams, and bad teams.

The maddening thing is that I continue to feel like they are so close to figuring things out. Feels like they are right on the edge, but for whatever reason they just can't put the pieces together. Also very frustrating wasting such a great pitching year, which we have had very few of in our history.

Before the Phillies series I said we would have to go 26-20 to get a playoff spot. That number is now at 25-16. It ain't over yet but we are getting very close to the point where we are basically just hoping for a miracle. Win today and find a way to go 4-3 or better on the next road trip. Will be very tough.

That's what I go back to when I see people complaining about not picking up a bat. Who was out there that you would have picked up, and who would they have replaced?

I wanted to see Garcia and Heim get moved at the deadline and replaced, but knew there was no way Garcia was being traded and doubted Heim would. All of the others, CY stated that they needed their current players to hit like they have in the past. Simple as that and he was right.

It's why I wanted to see the coaching staff blown up. Maddux stays and everyone else gets replaced. And if the new manager wants a different pitching coach, so be it. I understand these are professional hitters and no one can change who a player is, but there is also a reason that a full staff is employed and the message and tone being sent to the players matter. Whatever is being done with this roster has grown stale or is just wrong. Needs a complete overhaul in the offseason.

I think this is wishful thinking. I agree with rbtexan, I think this team wants to figure it out, but has no clue and probably won't.

Baseball can do this to you. 2023 Padres, 2024 Blue Jays both severely underachieved. We're in that company.

And again, speaks to not only having a few guys on this team that have worn out their welcome (Garcia and Heim), but also to how poorly coached I think this team is. The lack of attention to detail and/or discipline is shocking at times. Go no further than Garcia chucking that ball into orbit last night. Good, well coached teams do not do that.
duck79
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I don't know if I fully agree with it being discipline in that play last night. I think that was a guy who knew he was directly responsible for 3 recent losses and then he botches a hit right back to him to start his next appearance. He's doing everything he can to make a positive case for the team and he panicked. The game is just moving way too fast for him right now and it's now a mental block. But that isn't discipline, it's confidence.

Bochy throwing him out there to blow 3 saves was the lack of discipline…..but on Bochy.

You guys keep looking for these things like attention to detail or approach at the plate or hitting coaches... It's all noise. All of those issues were present in 2023.

And then you hammer down to one or two players but ignore others?

Yes, Garcia has had a 150+ point drop in his OPS this year compared to 2023.

Guess what? So has Semien. So has Seager.

You hope it's just year-to-year variance, but age also comes into play. Truth is 2023 was a career year for the bulk of this roster, and we've seen that play out in 2024 and 2025... But based on roster construction there really wasn't anything you'd see done about it until next year.
Flounder Dorfman
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Right, but Semien and Seager are going nowhere. People can ***** and moan all day long about them, but they will be here in 2026.

So the focus can be directed on what can be changed. Garcia and Heim are absolute black holes in the lineup and there is no commitment in place for either of them in 2026. Burger could be moved. Jung could be moved. Pederson is signed for another year. Anyone else and we're talking about young players.

I file it under worrying about what you can control, and that is where you have underperforming players with contracts you can get out of or are expiring and coaches. You can change up any of that, so I hope the Rangers do it in the offseason

Well, I just know that realistically we aren't getting rid of all of them. Semien has obviously declined, and will be 35 next season. He's still a solid player overall and team leader.....and he has a long term deal. So he isn't going anywhere most likely. Seager is here. Langford is here. Carter is here. Actually, beyond those four, I think everyone else should be on the table.

Sure, I would be happy with Smith and Higgy being back. Solid players, and the versatility of Smith is certainly valuable. Jung frustrates me. What is he going to ultimately become? Burger was hurt much of the year. I think he can still be a decent player for us. Heim and Garcia should be done here.

And I think that's ultimately what you'll see. The results in 2023 and the roster makeup basically made our lineup pretty well locked in place for 2024 and 2025.

We'll shop for upgrades on Heim and Garcia, but both could be back in lesser roles (Heim as a backup, Garcia as a fourth OF). I think you'll see Garcia either moved in the off-season if we get a suitor, or given the first few months of 2026 to get right before being cut loose.

Burger is a roster filler. Jung isn't going anywhere.

I think it's hard to pinpoint blame. We'll never know what really happened. Death by undiagnosed illness . . .

Let's be honest . . good, well-coached teams probably don't have a Robert Garcia on the roster.

He can be on the team, just stop pitching him when we are tied or have a lead. Not that hard to work around.

Could explain why he didn't slide at 2B.

Could also explain why he has been chasing.

Could be a way to get him out of the lineup.

We'll see... but a move had to be made and if he wasn't going to the bench... the IL works equally as well.

Every team has a Robert Garcia. Give me one that doesn't.

I don't have a problem with Garcia in the bullpen. He has good stuff. What he does not have is the ability to be trusted in high leverage situations. You can't boot a routine grounder twice and then launch a no look pass into the camera well to the leadoff hitter in a 2-1 game.

Now there is a sentence I never thought I would type.

I swear some of you just blocked out the 2023 regular season.

This is Bochy. This is what he does. He'll lose some regular season games to know exactly what he has come playoff time.

July, August and September of 2023 were all filled with this thread (including myself) pulling our hair out that Bochy was putting Sborz in situations that meant something as he continually **** the bed.
