Myself and my roommates from our time at A&M have been traveling once each year since 2013 to watch the Astros play in a different ballpark.
Boston
Arlington
KC
Arizona
Colorado
New Arlington
Cleveland
Washington DC
Chicago (both White Sox & Cubs)

These are the parks we've been to so far. We missed a year or two with prior arrangements as well as Covid screwing things up. But, this year we're heading to Baltimore to see them play the White Sox and then heading over to Pittsburgh to watch the Astros play.
Last year was the first year we went to a park that the Astros weren't playing in, as we went to an Astros vs. White Sox game, and then saw the Cubs and Mets the next day.

Does anybody have recommendations on food or places to go in either Baltimore or Pittsburgh? We typically will do a small bit of sight-seeing, but for the most part we like to hang out in sports bars and play pool, darts, etc. It's just a nice getaway to hang out and watch some good baseball. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

We were in and out for both so I dont have a lot of advice, but PNC is one of the most underrated ballparks - enjoy!

The crab mac & cheese dogs at Camden were legitimatly good. Make sure to spend some time on the RF concourse looking at all the names on the home run markers on the ground (and warehouse wall) - I thought that was really cool they do it for visiting players as well as O's players

Cant go to Pittsburgh and not get a Primanti Bros sandwich. They had a pretty good happy hour when we were there, might be worth looking into. Might stroll to the outfield area and see if Manny Sanguillen still hangs out. He had a food stand out there for a long, long time. I want to say we parked in the Andy Warhol garage, then walked across the Clemente bridge. Thats a nice sight, then you get Stargell and Clemente monuments as you come up to the stadium from the bridge.

I have nothing to add on Baltimore. Place was a dump a few blocks from the stadium when I was there ten years ago. I did have a really good bacon chili dog at the stadium though. And some version of crab french fries was also delicious.

It's been some years since I was in Baltimore, but the aquarium was awesome. And we had a great lunch of Maryland-style crab with a couple pitchers of Natty Bo (National Bohemian) - I think it was at Nick's but not certain. There are lots of places like that around though.

I live in Baltimore. Baltimore is a great neighborhood bar town. The key is to stay out of the hood and away from the general tourist areas.

People will say the Aquarium, but if you are a group of guys looking to hang in bars and watch games thats not going to be your scene. Its a great aquarium but its families and kids (and pricey). Broadly avoid inner harbor as best as possible for a good hang.

I would stick largely to Fells Point, Canton, Fed Hill, Locust Point.

A few favs:
  • My two fav crab and seafood houses are LP Steamers and Nicks. Both pretty convenient to the park.
  • Fells bars: Max's Taphouse good spot with a ton of beers on draft. Cats Eye has live music and is fun.
  • Canton Bars: Lots of choices here. Claddaughs has a pool table and is a big popular spot. Pig & Rooster has some free arcade games like Golden Tee and Buck Hunter. ODonnell's has shuffleboard. Lee's Pint and Shell is a good place. Going to get a very authentic big of Baltimore life at any of these (not the Wire authentic. Real regular people).
  • Breweries: theres a couple areas where they sort of bunch together. Kind of near the stadium theres a few (Checkerspot, M8, Pickett, Wico Street). In Hampden theres Nepenthe and Union and a few others.

Just a few thoughts off the top of my head.

Happy to share my contact info if you want any more specifics on anything for when you are here or what to avoid.

Just got back from a week in Pitt, and ill be back the first week of June when the Astros play at PNC and plan to catch a game (likely Thursday 6/8)

Fun little town. Theres a nice area of bars/restraunts right over by & between PNC field & the Steelers stadium that would be good on a gameday. Walk across the Clemente bridge for nice sights of the river & skyline.

Spent some time in the Strip District which has alot of good bars & restraunts. Went to Aslin Beer co, Helltown Brewing, Original Primantis & Cinderlands.

Looks like Skenes is going to pitch Wednesday. I'll def go to that. Maybe to the Tuesday as well. If I squeeze in golf that afternoon I may not make it Tuesday
