According to @mlbtraderumors, Nick Allen is projected to make $1.5 million in arbitration this winter. Mauricio Dubón is projected to make $5.8 million. This is a money-saving swap for the Astros.

Traded a two time gold glove utility defender for a lottery ticket and didn't even get a prospect back. I swear every trade Dana has made has been awful aside from the Tucker trade. That was so obvious even he couldn't screw it up.
This move makes no sense to me after dumping Urias, but trust in Dana

I don't get why everyone is so upset with this trade. Dubon is a guy that should have been 1 of the last 2 guys in your bench and is going to make over $6 million this year. That's a waste of money if you aren't the Dodgers.

sounds like we got a utility infielder with a similar defensive and offensive profile and saved around $4-5mm. We need to add starting pitchers so if we use that money to sign/trade for 1-2 then I'm all for it.Rule#2 said:

Dubon already has two thank you posts on Astros social media. That was quick...

That's pretty strange, they do that for just about anyone... the exact same day they had one for freaking Pedro Leon... This board cracks me up - hates on Dubon, essentially calling him useless and when he gets traded, gets mad he doesn't bring back significant value.

I believe that's because the non-tender deadline is Friday, he's not technically a free agent yet.

Dumping Dubon for Urias wasn't a big enough savings. So they unloaded both and saved about $9MM (after adding Allen back in).

Salary dump seems plausible, but that means Dana must give up other talent if setting up a big trade such as Donovan. Too bad he couldn't have used Dubon for that and kill two birds. We'll see.

They've made 0 moves that would be indicate they're dismantling this thing, even though that would be my choice. To me, this is prep to (try to) sign someone. Salary dump.
Dubon was my favorite Astro. Just hustled all the time. Gritty. We'll miss you, Mauricio. Kick ass in the ATL.
I'm good with the Dubon salary dump. He was a luxury we can't afford nor do we really need. Money better used elsewhere with future moves.
