Feels like that's a very glass half empty perspective.

We could've easily been the Braves and played completely meaningless ball in September. (some obviously think we WERE playing meaningless ball since we likely would've gotten shoved in a locker this October had we made it lol)

As frustrating as things were, I trust our pitching dev to keep producing above average arms, and it wouldn't take a huge over performance from the offense to keep us in the division/BYE hunt.

Most baseball owners outside of the late Padres spender or Steve Cohen are pretty conservative by nature. Unless we had really bottomed out, it doesn't surprise me that Crane would want to run it back at least once before making massive changes that some want.

Just my thoughts.

So a repeat of 2025. No thanks.

We aren't magically going to be able to turn back into the 2019 club, or even the 2022 team. Truth is, we should have won the division, even with all the injuries. I hate that we have to live on the hope that the lineup can stay healthier, but we need to shore up the pitching even to have another chance at the division.

That's the realistic picture. So, unless you just want to blow it up, "No thanks," isn't an option. We will see most of those guys back, but the good news is that if they can stay healthy and we poach a #2 and #4ish SP over the winter, we can still compete foe the division.

Expecting anything more than that is a crapshoot at this stage in the game.

Agree with all. I want to "blow it up". I know I'm in the minority, but I just don't see the money happening or the band-aids helping. Feel even more so knowing we're keeping Espada. Is what it is I guess.

Only one lefty bat there and I don't know how much the org loves Jose in LF and Paredes at 2B.

The only choice if we run with that lineup is to run Paredes at 2B and alternate Altuve and Yordan at LF/DH. Better to trade Walker and spare parts for a LHH OF or 2B and put Paredes at 1B.

Holy crap. Can the announcers suck off Judge any harder? A home run I'll give him but that was a pretty routine catch in right field for pretty much anyone in MLB.

Look Judge irks the f outta me and I'm not fan of his but like or not he's going to end up as one of the all time greats. He's a helluva lot better than most on this thread will care to admit.

Hot take...Smoltz is not THAT far off there.

also...1st half Framber was exceptional

2.75 ERA in 19 starts

averaged 6.1 innings per start

the Astros don't have a replacement for 1st half Framber

We don't have to replace first half Framber. We have to replace a 13-11 pitcher. It doesn't matter when the wins and losses came. His record was his record.

he's the single greatest player that isn't directly tied to steroids since I don't know, Hank Aaron maybe? he's got 4 52+ HR seasons, three of his last four seasons have netted WARs of 10.8, 10.8, and 9.7, he won the batting title this year for the entire majors, and he's led the league in OBP, SLG, and OPS i 3 of the last four years.

He's everything we pretend Yordan could be, except he's doing it every year, while also standing 6'7 and weighing 282 pounds. The guy should be an offensive tackle or a D lineman or a power forward who averages 14 boards a game.

I hate the yankees, and I love when Judge strikes out in the playoffs, but it's pretty academic at this point, he's the best offensive player of at least the last 25 years. As much of a freak of nature as Altuve is at 5'5, Judge at 6'7 is an unreal talent.

i hate the Yankees and so I hate Judge but he's one of the greatest players I've ever seen in more than 60 years of following MLB closely. Not sure what you haters are thinking.

Spoken like Buzzy Bavasi and John McMullen. When you have an ERA under 3 and are routinely going 6 plus, and have a 13-11 record, it means your team"s offense blows dead gophers. With those numbers and a respectable offense behind him, he would win 20 games, easy.

I don't think people are so much "haters" of Judge. Most on here are talking about the announcers creaming anytime he does anything positive, like catching a routine fly ball.

Tbf, catching a routine fly ball has been a problem for him in the past

Judge is an absolute all-time great player and will be when his career is set done. What he has done in the past four years is insane, not only hitting for power, but hitting for really good average.

With that being said, he has had a pretty rough postseason career. Up until last night pretty much all of his big moments happened in meaningless situations where the game was either out of reach already, or he made a mistake (dropped fly ball last WS, making Bader drop ball in 22ALCS, or being putrid every series against us)

No. It means Framber was 2-9 with a 5.63 ERA over his last 11 starts. Even if you can't replace his first half, it will be easy to get a better performance than what we got from him in the second half. So overall, I'm not sweating having to replace him.

Yeah, I know. I was in favor of trading him at the deadline and have not been a fan of his antics and mental weakness. But when he is on, he is as dominant as any pitcher in the league. There was obviously something that got into his head later in the season (probably the abject lack of run support in his starts didn't help his mental state), but pretending that he will be easy to replace is foolish. Getting somebody with his dominance and the kind of consistency we saw over the last several years will not be cheap.

I'm not really surprised. Lots of guys still under contract and a lot of arbitration with very few league minimum types. As he noted, I suspect a few arbitration guys will be traded or non-tendered (Dubon, Chas, de Los santos, Garcia). He suggests Urias but I think Dubon is the more likely to go.

He will likely be non tendered. We won't be paying him next year. There's no benefit to DFA him now. He's already been fully paid.
