Any truth to the rumors that Maldy is coming back as an assistant coach?

Weird no numbers reported yet. I would guess around 5/100.

I'm assuming you are talking about Naylor?
He batted .294, OPD around .820, 20 HR, 29 2B, scored 80+, drove in 90+, low K, 30 SB and carried them through the playoffs.
5/100 seems low.

Naylor is a year and half younger than Alonso and 6 years younger than Walker, so 24 or 25 per yr seems fair.

Good, not great bat. Bad defender. Doesn't play a highly valued position. Look at Walker and Polar Bear from last year. They got 3/60 (Walker is older) & 2/54 (Pete settled for a short term because the long term wasn't there).
Maybe a better comp would be Santander. He got 5/92.5 M.
Last 3 seasons: 8.1 WAR, 123 wRC+ vs 8.1 WAR, 124 wRC+.
But you may be right. I wouldn't be shocked at 5/90 or 5/120.

The tweet is deleted, but I assume it's about the Jake trade talk. The Phillies are the main team discussed, but I don't think they make sense as a trade partner. You could make a 3 team deal with the Phillies. Send Jake to PHI and a package of Arrighetti, a minor league arm, and a plus prospect to land Donovan.
Something like this. Baseball Trade Values included.
HOU SendsSTL Sends
- Jake to PHI (5.4)
- Arrightetti to STL (12.4)
- Melton to STL (15.0)
- Blubaugh to STL (2.2) - way undervalued IMO
PHI Sends
- Donovan to HOU (32.1)
HOU - Sends 35, Receives 32.1
- Mick Abel to STL (10) - way overvalued IMO
STL - Sends 32.1, Receives 39.6
PHI - Sends 10, Receives 5.4
