Nope. Here for a week. Beach will be fine

Not terrible but not good here. Thursday/Saturday were great.

Dreams Tulum yesterday. Water was clear (mostly) but the previous weeks accumulation smelled Awful.

They'll have that tractored up in no time.

Daily accumulation is fairly low and water has been good this past week.

Thats 6 days old.

Lucky for me I never get in the ocean when we go other than to scuba. Chlorinated water with a bar for me.

Sunday means beach flag football followed by an arrachera bbq w live music.

Man - looks like PDC is getting crushed.

Headed to Playa Blanca / Costa Mujeres in July. Fingers crossed.

I'll be there toward the end of June, pics I've seen lately on TripAdvisor so far have been pretty good, some sargassum but it looks to be managed pretty well.

It's bad top to bottom. Costa Mujeres to Tulum. West side of Cozumel isn't TERRIBLE.

It just gets worse and worse and worse through September without Tropical Storm/Hurricane to change currents. Super El Nino means low activity off our coast. This year could be DOUBLE Last season which was 6x worse than 2024.

Paciently waiting for October.

Worst I've ever seen it in PDC this weekend. You can smell the beach on 15 ave. Thats .25 mile from the beach.

My wife and I did a last-minute weekend trip to Cancun during July a few years ago when we saw $150 airfare on AA fully knowing what we were getting into with the seaweed (just wanted a change in scenery). As mentioned the smell is probably the worst thing because you cannot escape it by sitting by the pool; this was at the old Ritz in the hotel zone where the beaches were raked 2-3 times a day.

Couple years back we stayed at Moon Palace the Grand. Where we spent our time was fairly far from the beach, plus they have trees between the beach and pools. We took the bus over to Moon Palace so I could explore and get some photos. The second we stepped off the bus it smelled like sewage. Took me forever to figure out it was until we got to the pools/beach. It was horrendous.

The last day at Grand I walked out ot the beach to take photos and didn't smell it. But my guess is they were doing a better job of raking the Grand than regular Moon Palace.

Still going end of June, I'll try to get a few beach pics from Costa Mujeres.

It seems crazy (to me) that Sargassum would be a reason to cancel a trip down there, or even be upset by it, considering the other awesome things to do besides swim at the beach.

Not hard to believe that people book these trips with the expectation to be in/on the beach and in the water.
It's one thing to have a rainy day and be flexible to find other things.

Are there a lot of things to do in Colorado? Sure. But if you knew ahead of time that the ski resort you booked was closed until further notice, many people would probably cancel and go another time or find another location, because most book under the premise of wanting to ski.
