Continued strong profits and steady yield are the consistent story, but I'll be looking forward to the next report showing institutional holdings. Just a personal theory that now that it's >$5, sometimes that can trigger investment from some funds that wouldn't touch something <$5. No science behind my theory - just a hunch.

Kicked the dividend up by 10% and threw in a special dividend of $0.10 per share. Mentioned possible acquisition plans but still had enough cash to make this commitment.

Stock over $6 this morning at the open.

Currently $6.19!

For a tired and underappreciated market segment overall, this company's steady approach has really our-executed most other small caps. Upside is probably limited compared to a tech startup, but in terms of a well-run profitable enterprise, I can't ask for much more out of an investment.

Wish this was drip eligible. Or that I had set my limit purchases on this stock higher over the past few years. Would've been a bargain getting in at 3.5 instead of 3.25. oh well. Still happy I got in less than 1

Record earnings again - fantastic little company! Sounds like some of this Q's earnings were pulled forward from next Q, but growth trajectory is very much still in tact.

Stock closed today at $5.36. Love this thing!

Strong profits reported this morning even with the transient earnings dip reflected above. Thankful to pocket the recent special dividend. Sounds like smooth sailing ahead for the foreseeable future,

Another record quarter of top and bottom line growth. Stock popped above $6.50. Haven't dug into financials yet but first glance seems to show stronger Balance Sheet so maybe they kick out a special dividend for Christmas or something. CEO comments seem to expect a bit of an economic slowdown in the near future, but these comments are always overly conservative. Continue to love this management team and the stock!

$7.13 this morning. I still wish I could write covered calls on this position (or at least part of it).

Anyone know how much action is needed for a market maker to offer options on a stock like this? I assume it's volume dictated. It's no penny stock...

11.5 year holding period. 561% capital gain. Continuous dividends of 2-4% per year.

I'm holding on for now - one of my favorite small-caps ever.

Always fun to see this thread pop up. I bought my first tranche of shares way back in April of 2010 when the price was $0.47/share. My share price average is $0.68/share.

It's been a fun ride, although I know I'll probably have to figure out how to mitigate the tax hit at some point. Regardless, I love scooping up the dividends along the way.

I'm glad it's worked out so well for others. Looks like it is $7.45 this very moment so thrilled to see.

Love this one.

At what point, if ever, do they get on a major stock exchange?
Jeff99

I don't think they ever move to an exchange. Based on what I can pick up about the founding family, they like collecting dividends from the Armanino and probably aren't interested in the cost involved in moving to an exchange.

What's more likely is that this one is going to get bought out by a larger food service company. I'm somewhat surprised it hasn't happened, already.

$8.20 on thin trading. I don't understand the nuances of why a small cap stock behaves like that but the core trajectory/trend is clear regardless of strange pops like today's.

It's weird. I love the stock but I don't put a lot of faith in this latest run-up.

Increased dividend to $0.04/share. My yield on cost is now just under 25%.

Solid player. They keep turning in solid, but not spectacular results. It's just a good business with steady growth. I'm at the same place - still earning about a 25% dividend yield on cost.

Yeah, I just wish it was still DRIP eligible. Not sure why, but it stopped reinvesting dividends on eTrade a few years ago.

Stock at $8.45 this morning. Lots of changes at top of the house recently but maybe fresh blood will further accelerate growth without compromising the shareholder-friendly approach they've always had.

I saw that, too. I figured you'd post and point out the all-time high (as usual).

This has just been one of the most steady performing stocks I've ever owned - consistent growth and apparently excellent management. Any time the management changes over (like is currently happening), it leads to uncertainty, but their business appears to be solid. I'll watch it a little closer, just to be sure.

Another record quarter posted! Interesting to see that they've repurchased a little more than 3% of the company's outstanding shares (just under 1MM shares at a cost of around $7.5mm) in the past 12 months and are authorized to buy back another ~$4.5mm worth if they choose to. That has clearly supported this price run over the past year. Love this company and it looks like the new management team is playing from the same script.

Based on earnings and share buy-back, my guess is it will get to $10 in the next couple of quarters. Nothing earth-shattering, but still some significant upside to go with the dividend.

Wondering if I should jump back into this? I bought in originally in the 2's and sold around 4. The way it just keeps growing, slow and steady is appealing.

It's a tough call. I've been in this stock since I started purchasing shares at $0.47 way back in 2010.

I would probably buy more, but I'm way overweight this stock in my portfolio due to the price appreciation over time.

I think it will probably continue its steady growth until it gets acquired by a larger player in the food space. I honestly kind of thought that would have happened by now.

$9.38 on strong volume so far today.

Are funds buying in now that it's well >$5? Is this the share buybacks? Something else?

I'm sure there are others with more, but I've held my 2,000 shares for 15 years now thanks to Jeff's original post (different thread). I've collected FAR more in dividends over that 15 years than my original total cost ($1,300). And then there's the price appreciation story…
Jeff99
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Just to be transparent, since I originally recommended this stock, I hold a little more than 10,000 shares with a cost basis of about $.64/share. The price appreciation is great, but for me to exit will require a big tax hit and the trading volume isn't great so I keep collecting dividends.

And yes, they are throwing off enough excess cash that they are buying back a lot of shares, I addition to paying out dividends.

I'm not sure if $9 or $10 arrives first, but I won't bet against AMNF's management. It's comforting that even if we have a market/tech pullback soon (which is my base assumption), this stock has a super-low beta of 0.18, which means it's almost completely uncorrelated with the market overall.
