Abtc. I wouldn't touch it. Mining companies kind of suck.

I bought BTC and ETH in Dec 2021 then again in July 2022 after it dipped. Both were purchased with the intention to hold long term.

I've held the BTC but sold 90% of my ETH in Mar 2024 to fund a private equity opportunity.

Assuming you had $50-100k to invest today for "buy and hold" - what would you purchase?

Also - you mention earning 4% staking ETH. I see 1.89% on Coinbase. I haven't staked any ETH yet. Should I? Why and where?

Investing.com -- Strategy shares declined 3.5% after The Information reported that Nasdaq is intensifying its scrutiny of companies attempting to boost their stock prices by raising funds to acquire cryptocurrency.

The report indicated that Nasdaq is now requiring certain companies to obtain shareholder approval before issuing new shares for crypto purchases, potentially slowing the recent trend of firms transforming themselves into crypto-focused stocks. This increased oversight could delay deals and introduce uncertainty into the market's crypto boom.

Bought some today, but not confident its immediately up from here tho. ETH needs to show more strength. Wouldnt be suprised if Tom announced a stock buyback in low 30s, so likely a floor there and/or 1x NAV.

That all said, like MSTR, they are playing a highly leveraged game that swings hard both ways. If you arent trading the swings, you are making a ballsy bet long term that ETH is the Web 3 fuel.

Or there could be an uptick with existing firms if they now have something of a monopoly. No more competition vying for investor money in this space.

I wouldn't be comfortable putting all of it in crypto, but texags multi-millionaires probably don't bat an eye at $50k-$100k.

I would say that you should wait for a likely dip this fall and start DCAing most of it into BTC, and after that whatever altcoins you're comfortable with. DYOR on the altcoins because they are all gambles IMO.

I just jumping on the BTC and ETH train because so many notable people and companies in the world of finance and investment are.

I plan to take some profit off the table if we get the predicted 50% to 100% bump in the next 3 to 9 months so many are predicting.

If i sell my most expensive 20% lots I'll have a 50% to 100% gap between the price and my remaining average. I wont be net free but pretty comfortable

Maybe at some point down the road I move money into SOL or ADA or whatever is next. But it sure seems like its BTC and ETH for now

Talk me through the expected dip in the fall then 50-100% growth over 3-9 months

I'm up ~250-300% on my current BTC and ETH holdings. My intention is to continue to hold and I'm debating adding additional capital

Im just going off what the likes of Tom Lee and a bunch of others are saying

BTC- low end projections around 150K to as high as 220K this cycle which would be extended to get to the high end.

ETH- Projections here are pretty wild from a low end of 5300. I've seen as high as 20K in a few years and a median seems to be around 7 or 8K this cycle

I think a lot depends on whether its an extended cycle as some project going into 2026 or one that finishes this year, within the next several months

Long term, these same people have both going up 10x or more but thats projecting out to 5 or 10 years

Of course others think we may be getting close to the cycle end. I assume that depends on market conditions in general but lower rates are pretty much priced in now

I bought more BMNR today but unless BTC falls closer to 100K I don't think im buying any more

I just ran across this interview of a cryptocurrency exchange CEO.

She looks like she's 12, like seriously, not trying to be funny. Anyone seen that TV show Severance where the new boss looks like her?

Now this is a DAT I actually am interested in. Ethena is the fastest growing stablecoin in the world and for good reason. If you aren't familiar with USDe it's worth a look.

When the de-SPAC closes later this year, this will be the only pure stablecoin play in public markets next to Circle.

Correct me if I'm wrong but USDe is backed by eth tokens as it's reserve and shorted eth as it's hedge. Thats not kosher with the US gov.

One ting to consider if you got the eth route is buying ETHA. You can option trade it and it will earn yield at some point in the future without risk of locking up your own eth. And maybe the best reason is if God forbid something happens to you the ETHA is far easier to transfer to your beneficiary than ETH.

Interesting. The ETFs didn't exist when I was firm dipping my toes into the Crypto waters. My holdings are currently "direct" in Coinbase.

Are there any pros to buying direct in Coinbase over the ETFs?
Yukon Cornelius

Coinbase collects quite the fees and you're always on the losing side of the spread unless you limit order.

Coinbase is a big counterparty risk to me. Granted blackrock keeps their btc with Coinbase but it's different for them than you and me.

And Coinbase customer service is absolute trash.

The two pros: No expense ratio and higher staking yield if you stake on Coinbase than what ETHA will payout. ETHA won't be able to stake 100% of the eth for redemption purposes.

Ya I reached out to blackrock about inkind transfer of btc to ibit. They said talk to my broker. Called them and they said it's only for institutions and retail won't have the option for a long time…..

ETHA is Blackrocks ETF. I assume you can buy it from anywhere. I use schwab

I use the Blackrock IBIT ETF for BTC also

Ehh, I wouldn't put too much emphasis on what the US government says they're okay with today. If you prioritized compliance for the last 5 years you would've missed a lot of the largest opportunities. The GENIUS Act was a great move in the right direction but the ink is not dried wrt stablecoins here in the U.S. and around the world.
