Look at volleyball, we went from a near empty Reed to one of the highest attended teams in the nation. The crowds that will be behind that team this next season are going to be awesome. The right coach makes all the difference…


Winning matters. Volleyball, softball, tennis (even soccer - that's a sport the student body loves to support). WBB is just an expensive rec program at this point.

With respect to Gary, a very close friend of ours, other coaches were using his age against him in recruiting. This was pre NIL when kids were staying at their schools. Coaches were telling recruits that Gary wouldn't be there to develop them over several years. It really was frustrating to see that used against him. I don't know the answer here other than to say that I think if you added up all the coaching experience and college level recruiting experience (including mine which is zero) among the "experts " it is unlikely to amount to much. JMHO
Of course, my dad, with 50 years of high school coaching experience, used to say that the toughest part of his job was that it depended on what side on the bed 15-18 yo kids got up on!

Coach Blair admitted that in his retirement presser. You can tell he hated having to answer those questions about age/retirement when talking to recruits.

While recruiting slipped, Blair was ahead of the game when it came to attracting talent through transfers. With his much he was beloved by the community he'd be thriving in this nil/portal era

I mean Joni has earned about 6 million and accomplished nothing here, she knows she can continue losing and get another 3.3 million here. She's one of the highest paid coaches in the country and she doesn't have to win anything. I don't think Bama will pay any coach, much less one with poor results like Joni Taylor that much money.

However I have seen miracles happen, so let's hope they decide to do that and bring Joni home… I'll help her pack, even if I have to walk the suitcases to Tuscaloosa myself

Just look around other sports… I know how special Aggieland is and can be. If someone can give us a winning program, I know they'd one hundred percent be behind that coach and we can have women's basketball back near the top like we should always be. We can have huge crowds, an excited fan base, a loud Reed, I just want this program to be special man. It's been 4 years of nothing, no meaningful basketball, little crowds, no student interest.

We're all witnessing Jamie Morrison turn Aggieland into a volleyball school. The community, the university, the alums, the students, all of Aggieland is behind that volleyball program now. It can and it should be that way for women's basketball. I know one day it will again…
