Had a buddy at Sugar Creek for a few years til he moved away and I always enjoyed going down there. He seemed to enjoy the social aspect, as well. 3-9's and the greens were usually great.

I'm a member of Riverbend. Let me know what questions you have and I'll try to answer.

Course is a fun test. Primarily a golf club. We have tennis courts and workout facility and pool. Also redoing the club house right now. Should reopen for dinner in a few weeks. One of the best men's locker rooms in the city.
What do you boys want for breakfast BBQ ?.....OK Chili.

Sugar Creek courses are great, clubhouse is a bit rundown but it's been around a long time.

Kid did pga jr league there a few months ago. Parking can be a bit crowded but that's a very minor complaint.

Invited has recently been sold to KSL Capital Partners. The dues increase every January at Mag Creek. Currently the full membership plan which is unlimited golf 6 Days a week and unlimited cart plan for a single rider is $840 including tax. There is an additional upgrade to be able to access in network courses and 50% Off In Dining at the clubhouse. To go orders are 25% discount. The clubhouse is basic, no locker rooms just a dining room with plenty of flatscreens. If you decide to move to League City, consider a subdivision that is close enough to allow you to have your own golf cart. Mag Creek does charge the same rate as the cart plan to use your own personal golf cart which is $162/Month. Mag Creek has 27 holes which is great because you always have a different look vs playing the same 18 hole layout. It's a links style course so there are NO trees on the course for shade during the summertime. Typically winds around 10mph help with the summer heat. Course conditions are typically great, greens are typically fast. Downsides are the bunkers are trash for the most part, there are plenty of pebbles in the traps that end up on the green and can affect putts. A huge masterplanned community will be going in on the south side of the property so that will bring in a ton of new members. Tee times are readily available on the weekends as long as you reserve 7 days in advance.

Is Mag Creek 36 now? Didn't it used to be 27? Regardless, 27 is way better than just 18.

Fat Fingers on the cell phone, it's 27 NOT 36 sorry for the confusion.

Damn thanks for laying this all out. Definitely what I was after. Appreciate the great insight!

We like the neighborhood of Mag Creek too so I think that is where we would move to if we choose LC.

My daughter plays Magnolia Creek just about every time there's a Southern Texas PGA tournament there becauase she really likes it. One of the few legit links style courses around. A great change of pace compared to just about every other course in the area. I honestly thought it was public / private, and didn't realize it was truly a private club based on the level of ammenities. The course has been in above average shape compared to other courses around time for the last 3 years for us. Bunkers can be hit or miss as they don't hold up well after large rain, but you really shouldn't be in them anyway (at least on England, Scotland). The newish looking covered side patio / grill area is nice.

Now having said that, the course and the practice facilities (golf) are nice without being luxurious. The chipping, putting, and driving ranges are spread out more than most. We actually find it nice as it spreads out the number of people so they aren't as concetrated. There's actaully 2 putting greens on opposite side of the clubhouse. So I guess the best way to say it as an outsiders perspective is it is a no frills, golf first, golf club like they have all over the place in the UK. If you are expecting a high end place like Champions Golf Club, you'll be underwelmed. If you are expecting a muni style golf cours, you'll be pleasently surprised with a better crowd and golf facilities / course.

If you're gonna live on the south side, move to Friendswood and join Golfcrest over in old Pearland. Nicest club on that side of town by far.

Agree, it's a great deal, especially with the new short course and practice area they're opening.
