I have a new townhome that has a zoned system (two zones). It has a barometric pressure bypass. The damper that's in the bypass duct has rusted pretty good, and the little pendulum counter weight handle rusted off.
I bought a new honeywell damper, but I got the wrong size. The damper is 10 inch and the air duct is 12 inch. since this is just a bypass duct, would I be ok putting in a reducer and just using the 10 inch damper? I know going from 12 to 10 is going to increase pressure, but I can adjust the honewell damper accordingly.
PLUS, 90% of the time, both zones are on at the same time, so both of the separate zone dampers are open, which should virtually eliminate most of the need/pressure through the bypass damper.
Any HVAC guys here that can confirm (or destroy LOL) my though process?
