Howdy all.

I will be in town for work in a few weeks and was wondering where the best place to stay with easy and safe access to breweries and food would be?

Daytime wise I'll over off Hwy 90W and the Anderson Loop.
Being in town for several days, I have evenings free.

IS the downtown/Alamo area a good place to stay? Is it walkable up Broadway to the breweries around there?
If not, is there a better area/place to stay? Hoping for 15-20MIn commute each way... can be longer if needed.

If you stay on Broadway/near the Pearl you can walk to breweries and stuff easily. There are a few downtown just inside the highways from the Pearl. Also plenty of restaurants.

Anywhere from there to the Alamo is walkable

You ought to spend a couple nights in Boerne. Great brewery/food choices on main Street. Depending on time of day you can make 1604 and 90 in 20-30 minutes.

Southtown area around the Blue Star Arts complex has Blue Star Brewing, Dos Sirenos, and Kunstler (I think it's still open). Blue Star and Dos Sirenos are a couple blocks from each other, but Kunstler might be a quick ride from the other two.

Southerleigh at the Pearl has a good selection (and food), and then the Pearl district itself has a ton of other eat/drink places to choose from - including a new place called Otto's Icehouse. I think there's a few other spots scattered around the Broadway corridor but not sure how many are easily walkable.

Wild Barley at Loop 410/Broadway (right by the airport) is also really good but not walkable to anything else.

Pearl area is the best bet for walkable and drink/eat.

Southtown, Heights/Broadway, and Boerne all good suggestions.

At 1604/90 you're kinda off in the hinterlands so downtown probly be best option for multiples. I'll throw out a couple others- LT Mesquite brew co which is just past castroville on 90, and Longtab Brewing which is a cool veteran owned place not too far away, closer to medical center.
