35th Anniversary: Desert Shield/Desert Storm

"From the Abyss of War to the Bliss of Freedom" with Eman Blair

Date: Thursday, August 28, 2025
Location: George H.W. Bush Presidential Library & Museum
Reception: 5:30 p.m., ConocoPhillips Rotunda
Program: 6:30 p.m., Malek Theater

Eman Blair and her family were refugees living in Kuwait when the Iraqi troops invaded in August of 1990. As non-citizens of any nation, they lost every sense of safety and shelter they had been able to garner.

Through the decisive leadership and compassion of President Bush and strength of the allied forces, they survived the turmoil, horrors of war and the deep uncertainty that followed. Eman Blair ultimately became a proud U.S. citizen.

Inspired by President Bush's belief in public service and his deep sense of duty, she chose to give back by joining the U.S. Intelligence Community, dedicating her career to protecting the country that gave so much to her when she needed it the most.

Join us on Thursday, August 28, as we hear Eman's story of the Iraqi invasion, occupation, the subsequent liberation by coalition forces and the rebuilding of Kuwait. The event is free but seating is limited. Please register your attendance using the link below.
