On a serious note, this is how I got my immunizations at Ft Knox in 1990 at OSUT. Those squirt guns hurt and if anybody tells you they didn't, well they are lying. Just looking at this photo makes my butt cheeks tighten up. If you flinched, you got a nice cut and had to get the blast again since it did not penetrate as it should.

I only got one shot in all my years this way. It was during the Swine Flu "epidemic" around 1975 or so at Holloman AFB. I recall everyone on base, including dependants got the shot. They probalby used this technique due to the volume. I don't recall it being particularly painful but it was only one shot. I do remember one ot the medics testing his rig by shooting one of the metal miliaray waste baskets. That did get my attention.

One other point. The technique, as I understood it, is shown in the photo. The medic is supposed to hold one arm with his hand and press the gun firmly against the arm. One ot them took a break and another tried to hold two guns. It wasn't held squarely against the patient's arm and ripped it pretty well.

I received my polio shot when I was 5 like this and again at MEPS in AZ in 1983 at the start of my Army years.
