Glenmorangie's latest "Tale" is up on Total Wine concierge, A Tale of Spices. Not going to lie, this sounds pretty good so my order is in.
Another ingenious creation from the restless mind of Bill Lumsden, aka Dr. Bill, aka the Willy Wonka of whisky, aka Glenmorangie's Director of Whisky Creation, and folks, it doesn't just transport you it's literally a trip. Employing a quartet of not one, not two, not three, but four cask finishes (Moroccan red wine, new charred oak, Pedro Ximnez, and shaved toasted red wine casks), it drinks like Dr. Bill raided a spice bazaar and decided to bottle the whole damn thing for his own giddy pleasure. We thrilled to the notes of rose, saffron, ginger, and eucalyptus as evocative and transportive a whisky as you're ever going to find. One sip and you're wandering through the souks of Marrakech … the next, and you're haggling over cardamom in Istanbul. This is whisky as passport, as magic carpet escapism.
