However, at $15.49/bottle (plus tax $1.28 = $16.77) at Total Wine or Spec's, I can purchase 83 bottles of Benchmark Small Batch bourbon for that same $1,400.

Like I said, I am not worthy and definitely not in the same bourbon atmosphere.

I have a 30 year old Glenfiddich that I will take out of the box and crack for retirement.

I've got a McKenna 10 that was dumped on my 17 yo daughter's birthdate that I will open at her wedding reception.

is Costco even a good place to find hard to find stuff? I used to visit during my rotation but never found anything better than regular old buffalo trace one time.

LOL, seems like it. I was too early that particular day. It's purely luck of the draw. There is a group, though, that scopes it out and they get there pretty quick.

The reason I go there is that they don't say when they are getting their good stuff. So far, here is what I've bought:

Blantons - $64 (before they raised their prices)
EHT Barrel Proof - $77
This Bowman's - $95
Weller 12 - $61
Eagle Rare - $48

I go there quite often, though. Dude knows me by name. My wife drops in every time she shops there. She landed the Weller 12 and ER for me.

They put them out right in front of the cash register. However, the Bowman was just out, and not where they put allocated. The dude told me about it when I came in.

Most of the allocated stuff is just sitting on the counter by the register. Though, many times it just goes directly from the box to the customer. As I said, there is a group that watches that store pretty closely.
