Yes!! I love ordering on my way and it's ready as I pull up. Chris has been crushing it there.

inconvenient truth: Howdy, WOW! I had not idea that there were BBQ wars. I like BBQ, but lately it has become so EXPENSIVE that it is almost not worth it, I know what everyone says about the cost of meat and all, and I do have the $'s, but spending $50-$75 for BBQ lunch or waiting hours in line, just not my thing anymore. Your mileage may vary.

Interesting. Others posted similar sentiments some time back, particularly about the rising cost of barbecue, and were told this probably isn't the right thread for them, and outright dismissed. Now more people seem to agree with that sentiment, which makes me think prices really are getting out of control.

who knew there was so much drama in bbq

Every family in Lockhart for starters

Is your MIL named Cindy?
Related, this was pretty interesting story on a coupe of those

https://www.kxan.com/family-beef/

That is a good documentary. Terry Black's kids do NOT like their uncle. Lol.

I mean, did you like Kent Black after watching that doc?

He just walks around wearing an outfit claiming he's a pit master, he plays a role without actually doing anything.

My MIL used to do accounting for the Black's (they lived in Lockhart for 20 years) and she loves the twins and hates Kent so that tells me all I need to know. That's what I kept thinking everytime I saw him wearing that shirt. He doesn't cook **** and never has.

No, but I've heard that name. I think there were 3 or so ladies that worked together for them.

Checked out corkscrew today. By far cheapest Michelin star restaurant I've been too.
It was good - but not sure it was better than snows.

Took the boys (16 and 20 YO) to Snows and Franklin a few weeks ago. We've done them back to back days several times over the last few years.

Got to Snows at 445 and we were 76th in line. Got to Franklin on Sunday at 5:59 and we were first.

Snows was solid as always but Franklin took the prize this time. Pork steak at Snows is normally my favorite but was a bit dry. The beef rib at Franklin stood no chance. Love that my kids prefer waiting in line for BBQ to waiting in line at amusement parks.

Did I mention that beef rib didn't stand a chance?

Lived 20 minutes away for years before moving out of state. Miss that place.

Would 100% return - just not sure what sets them apart as far as the Michelin guide is concerned

Brix BBQ in Fort Worth closing August 13

Apparently the owner just wants to move on? If you've had your restaurant for only two years and you're already tapping out, I'm guessing barbecue really isn't your passion.

Been to Corkscrew 4-5 times, always very solid, but never mind blowing, but hard to beat if you are up there in the sticks.

From the owner's FB post. Sounds like he just wants out of bbq. With the high costs of beef, I can totally understand wanting to get into another concept.

While we love the BBQ World, we have decided it's time to move on. As the restaurant landscape has changed, so have my passions, family life, career, and what's important to me. I still love to cook and serve others and plan to continue to do that through my private dining concept, Tallow.

Is this the end of Brix Barbecue? I don't know, probably. Though I can tell you it won't be the last time you eat something from me.

Partly joking, but yeah, I'm in Oak Forest/Garden Oaks and it's a pretty good haul up to Old Town Spring. I'm not going all the way up there when I have Pinkertons and Truth pretty close by.
