But was still cheaper than me buying a single bottle of a high proof to find out I dont prefer them. So it was with it for me

My favorite at the moment is Soledad 8 year extra anejo followed closely by Suavecito Extra Anejo. Both are in the glass case at Total Wine.

Have used Suerte blanco recently for margs at home and it gets the job done just fine. Seems like their reposado is more highly revered. Any of y'all dig that one?

I'm more of a mezcal/scotch guy but nice to change it up.

I think your assessment of the Blanco was the same as mine, it gets the job done just fine. I find the Arette Blanco difficult to beat for the quality at it's price point ($24/liter), especially for margaritas.

Picked up a bottle of Aguasol reposado over the holidays. Very solid sipper and would rank it amongst my favorites.

Picked up a new Blanco tequila today Zumbador. I heard about it from Jay Baer. For $25/bottle, the first pour has been impressive. It seems to be a little bit more complex that Arette. A double blind tasting might be in order!

Highly regarded on Agave Matchmaker.com, even won one their 2025 awards. I will definitely be looking for this one at my stores in Austin. Thank you for the recommendation and review! Also, I love that price point.

Just got back from Mexico so thought I would share. We did the Fortaleza and La Cofradia tours. Picked these up.

The Los Abuelos bottle is Fortaleza. Fortalezas original / local name was Los Abuelos but they ran afoul of a trademark dispute with a rum company who already had the name so they aren't allowed to export their tequila under Los Abuelos label but that's how it's sold in Mexico.

Thus, I suspect I have a fairly rare bottle of Fortaleza simply because you can pretty much only buy it at Fortaleza distillery. Hard to even find retail in Mexico apparently.

And you've never seen a more manual / handcrafted operation than Fortaleza. All I can say is wow on that deal.

The La Cofradia I picked up because it was fun and unique. This one was aged in red wine barrels, thus the Rose name. They make a ton of other brands of tequila for them.

Highly recommend going to Tequila and doing these tours and take the Tequila Express train from Guadalajara to get out there and back. It was a blast.

So jealous! I would love to do that trip. Did you use a tour guide company or go at it yourself?

My buddy planned it all. There is not a lot to it really. We stayed at JW Marriott in GDL which is a damn nice hotel for only $150 per night on both ends of trip.

Booked the tickets on Tequila Express train. There are 2 different trains - Tequila Express and the Jose Cuervo Train. We did former; I think it's owned by Sauza.

Booked our rooms at Matices - Hotel de Barricas. The rooms are big whiskey barrels. La Cofrida is on same property as this hotel. Good restaurant on site that's in a cave. Really cool setting.

Booked tours to distilleries.

Pro tip: do not use uber at GDL airport. You have to walk off property a mile around corner and they pick you up at a Pemex gas station. It's chaotic and sketchy as hell. Just take a cab right outside airport arrivals which are numerous.

Here is a pic of hotel property from an elevated position they had on one of the buildings.
