Those of you who spend much time in the kitchen - what is your major appliance preference.

Range or double ovens with cooktop?
Built-in/counter depth or full size refrigerator?

Any other major preferences?

My preference would be a 48" or 60" range. If not possible than 36".

We have a counter depth fridge and it looks great but you lose so much space. We had to buy a garage fridge for drinks, overflow berries, etc.

48" range. Wish I had done 4 burners and a double griddle instead of 6 burners and a 12" griddle. I like that the range is a feature of my kitchen and you don't get that with separate cook top and ovens.

Love that food doesn't get shoved to the back of my counter depth fridge. Much easier to clean and maintain IMO. Our drink fridge Is in the utility

So no votes for double wall ovens, huh? Interesting.

Double ovens are useful at Christmas and Thansgiving. The other days of the year it is a storage bin for aluminum pans.

Why not side by side ovens under a 6 burner top?

We chose a rangetop and wall ovens. It takes more space but I like not having to bend/kneel to get stuff in and out of the oven. It also makes cooking a little less busy right in front of the range where everything is happening.

I also like having the pots and pans stored right below the rangetop.

Also we did a "speed oven"/oven/warming drawer stack in the wall.

This is exactly how my current kitchen is now, including big drawers under gas range top. I enjoy it for all of the reasons you mentioned. Wife wants just a 48" range, but I do most the cooking, so wanted to get other opinions.

We built and moved in back in 2023 so we had a chance for a clean sheet design for our kitchen. I liked the look of some of the nice ranges but found it to be more practical (and a little less expensive) to go the rangetop/wall oven route. The obvious disadvantage is that it does take a little more space if that's a concern. We're happy with it and glad we chose what we did.

Full size refrigerator - we have counter depth and I hate it

My appliances get installed in our new build in 4-5 weeks.

Went with 60" range (6 burners, double griddle) with double ovens under, then an additional in wall oven and microwave off to the side as well.

Fridge we went with 48" built-in.

No reviews yet, but I spent a lot of time in the showrooms trying things out and laying out the kitchen so hopefully this works out.

You going to be able to manage without a fourth oven?

Ask my wife!

The third one will be helpful since we host holidays for 25+ people a couple times a year. But the selling point for me was that it's a convection steam oven.

I also didn't know why we needed a second dishwasher, but alas, here we are.

Ive seen the 2 dishwasher thing mentioned on here before.

Being able to alternate dishwashers or load a second one without unloading the other sounds really nice

Then eventually you have TWO dishwashers to unload!

Agree it sounds nice, but after much thought I don't think it's very practical.

Buck, sounds like you didn't have to make any decisions of this OR that. Y'all went with this AND that.

We have limited kitchen real estate to work with, so have to make some decisions.

Jokes aside, warming drawings are great for hosting. That's usually what additional oven space turns into during hosting.

Gas range over electric easily number one.

Had double ovens once for 7 years. Maybe used them 3 times. So a no on them. Ovens just are not used anymore for many big meals like they used to be. Turkeys are fried. Prime rib is done outside on a pellet smoker or another means.

Extra fridge in garage for drinks/beer.

I will add something to this discussion. While not an appliance it's a kitchen tool I recently got and I love it. A French fry cutter.

Now I do lots of fish fries, my own hot wings, etc outside in a cast iron fryer. I also like doing fresh cut fries for burgers, chicken fry steak etc.

So I really get my use out of this tool. It cracks me up that I cut 3-4 potatoes in 30 seconds. Total game changer.

I agree with gas over electric but I've been hearing people rave over induction, even induction over gas.

I'm not a big French fry cook but we could start a whole thread about outdoor kitchen preferences. I usually do my steak searing outside to avoid smoking up the house.

48" Fulgor Milano gas range. Best buy. That and Bosch dishwashers. Only thing better would be a stemware washer, but that in nuanced.

Start and finish below. Only thing I paid for was a roofer to put the vent on the roof for the vent hood.

I totally lied there. Damnit. May be a 30". Have to figure that out soon to order parts. Good eye. And thanks for calling me out on it.

What are y'all cooking on a griddle in your range? Seems like anything but pancakes or grilled cheese would make a huge mess. I love having a griddle, but it's outside.

If it's just tortillas, quesadillas, pancakes, and grilled cheese, I don't think I'm missing out. I DO wish I had a pot filler to accompany my range. We make a lot of pasta and it would just be handy.

I made smashburgers once on my middle griddle and my wife told me never again. We had to mop the floors from the grease splatter. They were delicious though.

I previously had a griddle at a previous house and would often cook shrimp, burgers, etc. on there the same way you would outside. You have to clean it outside the same way you have to inside.

We considered getting a 48 or 60 inch but a griddle didn't make sense when we have an Evo steps away. A French top just doesn't make sense but maybe next time.

I feel like using a pan that can be moved to the sink is easier to clean than the griddle. Griddle seems fun but a major PITA to clean.

Anybody have induction range top experience?
GAC06

Induction is supposedly more powerful, more precise, and definitely easier to clean. I just don't like it personally.
