I've succumbed to buying the tubes. Irks me that it's over 10x the $/oz but at least I'm not throwing away half cans every time I use them.

Just buy the tube stuff. It's more concentrated and you can just throw it in the fridge. I haven't bought a can of tomato paste in years.

Put dollops on a sheet of parchment in the freezer. Freeze solid, wrap in parchment paper and then put in a zippy for later use.

This. I usually buy a couple of cans and do this. I use a tablespoon to spoon out roughly that amount, and freeze it. Then I have tablespoon dollops of tomato paste for whatever I need.

Make serving size scoops and wrap them in plastic wrap and store in the freezer. Works will for chipotle peppers as well. Just make sure you label them.

Or buy the tube.

I guess I'm just wasteful, but I'm not portioning out and freezing something that costs less than a couple of bucks.
