
Indiana transfer forward Mackenzie Mgbako commits to Texas A&M hoops
Former Indiana forward Mackenzie Mgbako has announced his commitment to Texas A&M.
At 6-foot-9 and 220 pounds, Mgbako averaged 12.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists as a sophomore for the Hoosiers. He shot 43.7 percent from the field, 32.9 percent from 3-point range and 81 percent at the free throw line.
In two seasons in the Big Ten, Mgbako established himself as one of the best young bigs, averaging 12.2 points per game for two consecutive years.
He was named 2024 Big Ten Rookie of the Year and made the 2023-24 Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
The Gladstone, New Jersey, native can stretch the floor, averaging over 4.5 3-point attempts per game in his career. He finished inside the top 20 in 3-point attempts across the Big Ten as a freshman.
The former five-star recruit will look to make an immediate impact on Bucky McMillan’s first roster, slotting into a starting spot in the frontcourt.
McMillan and his staff had to beat out Will Wade and NC State and Chris Beard and Ole Miss for Mgbako, a massive recruiting win for A&M’s new head coach.
He arrives in Aggieland with two years of eligibility left.
