I think if you counted "stars" that some of these guys have had at various points in their multiple times being recruited that this might be the most "stars" we've ever had on a team at one time.

I'm not going to do the research, but only the 15-16 team with the overlap of the Caurso/House/Jones trio with the Hogg/Gilder/Davis trio would be close if not better.

Of course looking at recruiting stars only means you can't really rank this team against any of our 70s, 80s or 90s teams.

So while I agree with Bobinator's take in terms of this team proving nothing yet, I understand where you could make a talent based arguments based on the potential that some of these kids have shown at various stages of their lives.

Just quickly, Clemence, Isaacs, Griffen and Mgbako were all top 100 guys coming out of high school. Only Isaacs has really played at that level up until now but it's the off-season so why not hype the roster.

What does top 100 matter though if they have a track record at the college level. Like if Manny Obaseki had another year you could say he was a five star at one point but who cares, he's not a five star now.

I'm not trying to downplay how impressive this roster is too much though, there's no question Bucky has assembled a really intriguing group with not much time. It's extremely impressive. And if everyone finds their role and plays to their potential I don't even think it's crazy to say this could be one of our better teams.

But I just think it's kind of wild to say this is the most talented group we've ever had and that it's not even close.

I agree with you, just trying to logic out what the previous poster was thinking when he posted that.

It could be the deepest in talent in the aggregate. I would guess that is true, but we won't find out till season of course. To me the challenge will be making all the pieces fit together best. The other factor of course is in the NIL era, most other major conference teams are working the same ends to improve their rosters, so the competition is getting tougher at the major conference level (my view why less March madness upsets seem to be happening). In the end, how much talent you really have is all relative to other peer schools..

In any event, Bucky's approach is an extreme difference to last off season, when we had a coach settle for "good enough" established role players (at best) to fill key spots, on a team otherwise primed to make some noise. The change is refreshing for sure.
