Have wondered several x , how many year round diehard Aggie basketball board people are there really? Is it even 200? Someone here probably has a good definition of what that means and how many there are . If we can all come to some common understanding of what a "DAWG" is surely we can define what a diehard Aggie hoops fan is … right?

Based on the number of stars on the top two posts in this thread, I am taking the under on 20.

There's some tiers here of like hardcore old timers that don't post that often like Shank Ag and Elite Zags, but if you mean posters who will reliably contribute to most hoops threads no matter what time of year it is it's definitely a pretty low number.

Agree but there are people who read year round even without participating. Just like any forum. So it's hard to count how many have a serious interest.

They don't count if they don't participate!

The problem is cyclical. I look to this thread and don't see new content very often. So I check this less often, thus less traffic.

When there's new content around games, I'm here more often for the content.

I just like to pretend that we're not the only ones who care about Aggie basketball.

There's definitely more hardcore hoops fans, but I just mean the first thing in the post about people who post here regularly.

I really think all of the goal tending against Buzx while he was here and since he's left keeps the board from being more popular.

Him leaving was the most interesting thing to happen to Aggie Basketball in the off-season since Kennedy was fired and everytime anyone brought him up, they got lambasted with, "He's not our coach, move on." It just kills interesting dialog.

Also, some posters here have softened over the years, but the A-holish, "I know more than you and your OPINIONS make you an idiot" probably ran off a lot of people. I got tired of being called stupid or seeing others be called stupid for OPINIONS and thus, participated less because it's annoying and exhausting. This behavior was more prevalent
5+ years ago.

Again, I find that aspect has improved, greatly.

5? More like 15. Pretty sure the early BK years killed this place and it was basically a reset.

I agree with that, I just mean the board has gotten "nicer" in the last 5 years or so.

I think peak toxic on this board, which I readily admit I contributed more than my fair share to, was a long time ago, but I also don't think many people were really goaltending for Buzz. There's always a few weirdos but I think the bigger thing was people who knew there was no way we were going to fire the guy and people who kept repeatedly posting that we should and derailing any thread about actual basketball with it.

That combined with the handful of posters who literally only showed up when we lost was annoying. Got to the point under Buzz that there no point even looking at this board for a day or so after losses.

True. Buzz was polarizing.

Kind of like my thoughts on having a single "other games" thread vs. Threads about individual games that aren't A&M, I like the idea that we have more threads, not less.

If someone wants to start a thread about Buzz kissing someone on the bench. Good, it's activity.

If someone wants to start a thread about what Turg is doing now a days. Good, it's activity.

I'm just saying, new threads and any activity is good in my opinion. We go way too many days without something new posted so this board becomes an afterthought to people like me who love Aggie Basketball and have season tickets, but want to hear discussion and new info.

I agree new threads are great, I just like the other games thread because usually there's several games going at once and there's practically never enough people posting on here to make it worth checking multiple threads. It would be like the same five people talking to each other.

There's usually separate threads for the bigger games as we get further into the year though.

Yep, I love this time of year when college basketball is heating up.
