We surpass next season?

I think we score more. Will we rebound more?

Score somewhat more and rebound somewhat less imo. Defense harder to quantify imo .

Points per possession?

I haven't looked at that metric yet.

Obviously, I want to win more.

One stat would be great to improve is offensive rebounds.

And rebounds off of opponents freethrows. Tennessee anyone?

Oooof

I honestly think we'll be better in essentially every statistical category. We had a great season last year, but Bucky has put together a vastly better roster for the upcoming season. It's hard for me to think of a category that we won't do better in.

That's where I am at. With the talent next year being higher than last year and a season of experience for Bucky in the SEC we should be better in most metrics which should lead to an even better season

I think our offensive will be significantly better and in the tradeoff our defense will be a little bit worse statistically.

We were not athletic enough to force a ton of turnovers this year. We were good at it, especially against bad teams, but we weren't great at it. And even when we did force them we weren't particularly good at finishing in transition.

That shouldn't be the case next year. We're much bigger across the board, we're more athletic, so our press should force more turnovers which should lead to more easy baskets which means our offensive numbers should be significantly better. But in the tradeoff for better offensive numbers, I think we'll be a little less efficient overall defensively.

I think Bucky did a good job last year of getting the best players he could, and getting them to play as close to his style as we could given their limitations, but against quality competition we couldn't really impose our will on the game very often. I think next year we'll be able to do that at a higher level.

So specific stats I think we'll improve: points per possession offense, turnover percentage defense, points in transition, FG% on close 2s, defensive rebounding %

I want to think that's true but I hesitate because we lost a guy that was consistently a double- double machine and I'm not sure if we'll have that or not .

Lobs and dunks. Rebounds too.

Excited to see if we can replace Halloways layup line production.

Agee's offensive output is replaced and then some simply by Mgbako being in the lineup. I think Phillips will actually be a huge role player / glue guy starter. There aren't enough shots already. We have 3 players on this roster who likely can be expected to score 30-35 per 100 possessions and thats absurd

Agee is kind of complicated to talk about replacing.

On one hand, he only played one year here but he's up there on my all time favorites list. Absolute grinder, brought it every night, team leader on a team that absolutely had to have one, and a lot of times last season he kept things on the rails when they easily could have gone off of them. Played above his size on both ends, could score on the block and hold his own defensively down there.

At the same time, he wasn't really a great fit for the kind of basketball we want to play, and he was athletically limited in some ways, especially in his ability to get up and down the court and defend in space.

For a rough football analogy he was like if an air raid team's best player was a fullback.

I hate to get my hopes up about players I havent seen play, but theres a legit possibility that Josh Irving is a really good player and if that is the case, I dont even know what this teams ceiling is.

I wouldn't get my hopes up on that at all.

My only goal for him this year is that he can basically give us what Federiko/Vinson did last year. Anything better than that and I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I havent really paid attention to him at all since we signed him really, but getting invited to a camp for the U18 national team at least made me lift my head up.

It's also kinda wild that he's not 18 yet.
