Welcome to the TexAgs Off Season Baseball Book Club! We are reading Ball Four by Jim Bouton. Book club officially runs from July 1 to August 11, a period of six weeks. We're halfway there!

This week we are discussing the book up through Part 4: "I Always Wanted to See Hawaii." Tell us your favorite parts, drop your favorite quotes. Ask questions. What was interesting to you? Did anything surprise you?

Some questions to get you thinking:

1. How does Jim Bouton deal with the pressures and uncertainties of a baseball career, particularly when he faces challenges such as moving to a new city and possibly being sent down to the minors?

2. What does Bouton reveal about his feelings toward being recognized by fans and having a personal fan club?

3. How does Bouton perceive the transition from the major leagues to minor leagues, and what does he learn about his career during this time?

Also, you can check out some possible discussion topics from the previous two parts in the Week 1 thread and Week 2 thread.

------------

I also just want to check in with everyone's thoughts about the club format. Is this a bad format? Would you rather we just have a thread at the end of the six weeks instead of these individual threads?
