I don't think the money was lined up earlier. But what matters is it's planned and going ahead now. Once again we got embarrassed by a coach leaving but at least he put us in the championship finals first.

Or right after the season ended in June

Agreed, but I know Football pays the bills. Need that lot for Football parking.

Really, that's why they delayed? Dumb. If they need that lot for football parking, why are they building anything on it at all? And the lot across from the West Campus Garage? They're taking that one away too. Lame excuse.

They sold the parking spaces during season ticket renewals. Explain how you would handle that if you lost your parking couple games into the season.

Again unless they started much earlier (like during baseball), it's not like they're losing that much time before the project is finished

I would not have sold parking spaces in what was scheduled to be an active construction zone.

I don't think they had it funded in time to break ground earlier. And for their own convenience didn't rush it as a result,

It wasn't approved for construction at the time football seats and parking was paid for by season ticket holders

Not directly related to improvements at Olsen/Blue Bell, but a topic worth watching, in case you missed it:

City of College Station kicking tires on new arena/convention center with A&M (Premium)

Aggieland forum discussion

If a new special events center (that would host basketball and volleyball) were to be built at Hensel Park, there would be dramatic changes to West Campus and the area surrounding the ballpark. If this is the direction we are going, I wish this had been decided before we committed to pouring millions into renovations at Olsen.
