I've read in another thread that season ticket holders will be relocated to the other side of the court. Is that true?

I understand the reasoning and truly have no issue with the change, but why hasn't the TMF reached out yet to discuss this and get opinions on it?

This change being brought up to a small group of supporters at a speech given by Coach Morrison is hardly a consensus "we are OK with it"

If the TMF has sent an email discussing this, then forgive me, but i haven't seen anything on this besides the mention of it in one of the threads under the Volleyball secition of TA

I haven't seen anything from TMF on this yet. Then again, we haven't gotten any messaging about season tickets yet either (unless I have missed an email today). I imagine messaging of the change (if it actually happens) will be part of the season ticket renewal process.

Jamie's idea was just to flip the arena, so the season ticket holders would have the same seat but on the other side of the court. There was not an intent to go through a reseating/seat selection process where someone might end up being forced further back because someone with more priority points wants their seat.

Keep in mind there were only 3 sections of reserved seating last year 120, 121, and 122 (with the net aligned with the center of 121). The change would suggest the reserved seating would move to 104, 105, and 106. I would assume "same seat" means a rotation where 120 becomes 104, etc.

I'm not sure I understand the need to "build consensus". AD/TMF sells a product, Aggie Volleyball, and makes decisions about changing (hopefully improving) the product. As nice as it would be to be consulted, they should do what they think best for the program. Now, if they don't let you know when you purchase your tickets that you will be on the other side and spring it on you after your purchase, that would be wrong.

I'm not going to go on the rant that I want to because I don't think this is the right thread for it

But the AD/TMF doesn't just sell a product. The Dallas Cowboys sell a product. I often feel like the AD doesn't give a **** about the fans...until they need more money. Then we get the emails and calls saying "We are all on the same team and we can't do this without you".

There can't be more than a few hundred season ticket holders. I think the TMF should send them an email and ask what they think about a seating flip. Maybe most don't care. You don't need to make everyone happy but at least give people a chance to opine.

Or don't. But then the AD shouldn't complain when people don't race to donate more and more.

I guess where I am at is you shouldn't really go around asking opinions if the answer isn't going to change anything.

Say you send out an email to all the season ticket holders and asked what they thought. What are you planning on doing with the feedback? If 51% of the responses are "no", are you going to tell the coach no? If you are going to do it anyway, then just tell people what is happening at a point where they can choose to renew their season tickets or not.

Id guess the few dozen people who were asked for feedback by the coach is a decent sample size of the season ticket holders. they were asked early enough in the process where their feedback mattered.

I don't know if it is happening. It is speculation based on a comment from coach in an interview on TexAgs that seemed to correspond to an idea coach presented to a bunch of donors to the program.

Hopefully we get information about season ticket renewals soon and it includes information about any changes to seating.

I find it hilarious that everyone thinks they should always be consulted, have a say in what is going on and think everything is a conspiracy to screw them.

A coach casually mentioned the idea to me (and this was probably before last season, so the idea has been out there a good while) and explained the reason they were interested in doing it. The reason to flip the student side and alumni season-ticket side is to get our great home environment on the television broadcast. After the flip, the cameras will be looking at the student side and all the fun things they do all game as opposed to me and the other olds. My comment back was it sounds like a great idea. Worst case is someone might want to park in a different parking lot, but once you get in the arena, I won't even know that anything has changed.

Bottom line this is good for Aggie volleyball as we have an awesome home court environment and we now get to showcase it on TV. Whereas before It looked like a bunch of senior citizens on an outing.

This is true. I'm 50 and I look it on the television.

I'm right there with you. That was an attempt by me at some self deprecating humor instead of being mean to my peers. I hope it came off that way.

If you are pointing this reply to me, what I find hilarious and funny is that anyone would buy anything without questioning what they are buying beforehand.

It's a simple concept really. What am I buying? What is the difference between what i've purchased in the past? ....and once those things are more clearly communciated to me by the seller, I can then make the decision on whether or not i want to continue to purchase the product.

You may want to re-read my original post and note that I said that i had no issues with that change, but that it hadn't yet been communicated to any donor's/season ticket holders yet (outside of a few supporters at an event in the past)

To clarify where I stand on this.
I will continue to purchase my 4 season tickets and attend all home games as i have the past decade. Moving to the other side of the court has no bearing on my decision to do this. I enjoy watching the sport. I enjoy supporting my university and I enjoy supporting our athletes as they compete.

Not necessarily directed at you, but the overall thought like this statement from your original post, which I re-read.

PS: please let Coach Morrison, Trev and the TMF know what this season ticket and donation provider has decided.

Yes it will. Wife and I got volleyball season tickets the first time a couple seasons ago during Jamie's first season. It's been a lot of fun.

If it makes sense for you, join the maroon club. Jamie and staff do a great job of educating about the program, the sport, etc. there is about 1 event a month during the season, including meet the players, chalk talk with Jamie, and more.

TMF sent an email today with the details, where your new seats would be, an option to select new seats on your renewal application, and a video of Coach explaining the reasons.

Great answer! I loved when he said he wants to make it a memorable experience so that one day these students become one of you (the season ticket holders)

I also believe the rowdier the students, the better it is for the team!

Can we assume that this will also be done for Basketball and Baseball?
Seems like those sports need an injection of Students in cameral view!

I think volleyball can get away with it because there's less money involved in it. Not sure about the other two sports.

There are only 3 sections of reserved seating for volleyball, so they all fit on one side and there is no impact to season ticket revenue. For basketball, baseball, and softball, moving the students to a more visible location would displace season ticket holders, likely to a less desirable seating locations and reduce ticket revenue.

This change was driven by the coach, not the AD, so it would be up to the other coaches to decide a change would be beneficial.
