either we are now an elite serving team or Baylor has something to work on before the season starts... Hopefully the former!

nevermind... I was barely following the game but it "sounded" like we were ace-ing them left and right... little did I know...

I'm sure we wanted a sweep and the final score doesn't look pretty. But I think Jamie used this to experiment and see things out. At the end of the Baylor is a top 20 team for a reason.

Our hitting was very sloppy and it was a rough night from the service line. We did set the ball around the court as we saw many girls have 5+ kills. Only 3 girls played all 4 sets. 16 girls saw court time.

Kyndal Stowers played 1 set and Emily Hellmuth played 2 sets. We really set the middles a lot as Cos-Okpalla and Perkins had 10 and 8 kills a piece.

I wasn't there in person so I wasn't sure how our serve receive or back row played. But hopefully that and our hitting get cleaned up a bit and can look more efficient.

Minnesota has some really really strong outside hitters so we'll need to serve hard to keep them out of system

I'm hoping this means the passing and serve receive was so good that we were able to set our fabulous middles a lot!

Just got back from the game. Our serve receive looked elite for the first three sets, not sure how much of that was Baylor not serving all that aggressively vs how much our players have improved.

Definitely a lot of jitters for our hitters in the first set. They were making bad hitting errors on good sets. Also noticed some missed connections with Waak and more so with Musgrove when she was setting. Blocking didn't look great but I think it will start coming together once they get further into the season.

Waak looked to be in the best shape I've seen her in. Humphrey also seemed to be moving around the court better but still not enough power in her attacking. She does do all the other things well. Was interesting to see her playing as a DS in a couple sets. Curious if they will employ that in real matches or just let Hellmuth and Stowers play all around. Definitely nice to know we have options at outside this year, and Fitch was impressive for a freshman.

For anyone that was there in person and who has been following volleyball for a long time, Alisha Glass Childress (setter for the Penn state dynasty years and USA national team) was sitting on our bench the whole match. I spoke to her briefly after the match and she's basically a consultant for the team in terms of mental health and performance. She's also going to be head coach of the San Diego Mojo pro team in the spring of this year. Pretty cool to have her helping out the team!

Also the crowd was very impressive for an exhibition match. I'd say easily 3500+ people in attendance.

This was my 2nd Aggie Volleyball game to go to - it was fun to watch. There were also a LOT of Baylor fans there - but they were mostly quiet (unlike their WBB fans..) So, as an INSANELY casual fan (see- 2 games attended) I thought Cos-Okpalla was good - though she had serving issues.

Margot out was a huge factor early on, IMO. She was with the Lednicky/Stowers/Helmuth/Cos-Okpalla group during the recent scrimmage before she left. And Maddie didn't play in the scrimmage, as was noted. It seemed like it took a couple of sets for the hitters to adjust to Maddie, and frankly, she was not having a good night setting.

Thanks for all the observations everyone. Wish we had one more scrimmage before the big game. A few concerning things mentioned but nothing that we can't figure out in short order. Baylor is a good team so winning the two middle sets was a very good sign that we can work out of an early funk and also win sets when things aren't totally clicking.

Our serving was night and day better than it was last year after just one exhibition match. And this is without having Manning on the court which would be a extra weapon from beyond the endline

Our serve recieve was good but i dont think baylor had tough serves.

We connected well and scored out of the middle but our first touch defensively and our anticipation on defense needs to improve before SEC play

Our blocking which at times was elite last year didnt show up and touches off the block that we did get were not covered well at all

We played pretty much everyone on the roster but the freshman when all together looked off in all facets of the game and our attacking was non existant (lots of tipping or bad touches offensively)

That said I thought Humphrey looked much improved and you could see why Stowers was a force before her injuries.

Yeah, I though Humphrey's passing game was excellent last night and Kendal was deadly in the first set.
