Tailgating Reed For Volleyball

Howdy Ags. We are planning to tailgate a few of the Friday matches and Weekend matches. In asking 12th Man (and PTTS) , we are now having some discussions as to what it could potentially look like both this season and in the future...

So, I have a question for you Ags... Would you, given the opportunity of a dedicated tailgating area or space at Reed, participate in some tailgating?

Just a straw poll so I can share back with the powers that be I.e. opening the lot early, tailgate passes, etc...

  • I would love to tailgate VB and bring my tailgate trailer similar to football (Bonus Good Bull for trailer size)
  • I would tailgate and set up a small tent or similar
  • I would come early to enjoy the atmosphere and walk the tailgates
Would love to hear party size... I.e. I would have a tailgate tent and would expect 10-15 people, and we would start 3 hours to Match time...

I think that's a fantastic idea! If I get to attend a game this fall, I'd be there with a couple others and I'd bring some food as well!

Nice idea but not really feasible for me unfortunately. Most games are weekdays with a 6 or 6:30 first serve. Hard enough to get there on time as it is!

Met with Parking yesterday. We will focus on the grassy area behind the pay parking in between Reed and Olsen.

We will definitely be there the Saturday of the Tourney

Only 2 of us, so likely just "walk the tailgates and enjoy the atmosphere."

Will definitely stop by at some point and say hi.


Definitely love the idea and enthusiasm. How are we supposed to become a bigger volleyball school than Nebraska without things like tailgating before the match.

There was nothing to indicate TMF was coordinating with other groups so I assume just a TMF thing.

I have been to a few TMF receptions for baseball and softball. I don't recall one for volleyball the last couple of years, so doing the same for volleyball seemed new.

Either way the support for Volleyball is warranted and will be awesome! If we are awarded the opportunity to hose the first and second rounds, this would be an amazing experience and I'd love for us to go all out!

Glad they are setting something up, wish it was being done more broadly to attract folks. But good they are doing something

Haven't seen the notice from TMF, but they have put on some nice tailgates fore Women's tennis during NCAAs. It's just the two of us, as well, but great idea for larger group.

And I think the conversations were kind of an all inclusive discussion of how to create and keep the Good Vibe momentum around our team.

I think it's fluid. I know there are a couple folks that will bring trailers for their groups on the 20th.. But it will all be on the same area. So let's just see where it goes. The tailgates are grassroots driven not TMF but we talked with them and they helped with the event and parking side of things.

For example. The lots are free 1 hour prior to match. So is we get there earlier we need to pay at the kiosk. Minor things but logistics nonetheless.

If the tailgates grow they may adjust that part. My hope is by the end of season we have an area full of tailgates.
