I'm excited for this Libero battle! Applegate and Rodriguez are both amazing!! But don't forget how great of a passer Stowers is and Natalie Ring is a 6 rotation player also so she can absolutely pass. I'm curious how Morris and Lacewell pass

It was really good and just a mix of hearing Jamie and the team talk about scouting and then personal stories.

Mentioned that they are still working out a plan for the championship banner drop.

Overall great event and they want to do more in the future. All Jamie asked is that Aggies keep showing up to matches and be loud.

Anyone attend the chalk talk event

It was supposed to be an hour long but ultimately went about 15 minutes over. Really good turnout- someone at my table who seemed knowledgeable said 150 signed up.

The first 35-40 minutes was a synopsis of the tournament from really the 2nd round (TCU) to the Championship. There was some film incorporated but not really from a strategy standpoint but more of a standpoint of helping to tell the story. A number of players also gave their perspectives on different moments.

The rest of it was Coach Morrison and Taylor Humphrey answering questions from the audience. The questions were all over the place but one that stood out to me (as someone pointed out above) was someone asking what fans can do to help support what Coach Morrison is building and his response was "Show up." He hit on it several times throughout the session but he really wants to sell out Reed at least once this season.

Lots of new faces, but I believe this team will be just as awesome!

Impressions suspect from just a few games and rotating players: Musgrove has the height but Nicholoson was a much more consistent setter IMO… and since Manning only appeared for her serve believe the setter is Lily's for the taking, Opposite will not be a strength… the freshman Lacewell may challenge Morris there, would be interested if there was a way to work Megan Fitch into that role. All the rest looks solid and Kyndal definitely looks like the star/face of the team.

My wife and I were at both matches and the Chalk Talk. All three littles wore the libero jersey at one time or another and all three were impressive. Gabi had a pancake save in the SHS match that was insane. The Aggies are set really well in the DS this year. Other thoughts and observations:
- Margot came in frequently to serve and only to serve. Lily or Kirra did the setting when she was in - it was weird for an old fan. Still, that's the first court action I've seen her in since the scrimmage in which she was injured last year. Jamie is taking it slowly. I've no idea who will be the Setter in the Fall, or whether Jamie will return to a 6-2.
- I think Lacewell only played against SHS, but she had impressively powerful kill shots when she was set and made some shot selections that were impressive for an incoming freshman.
- Amare Hernandez has obviously been working on her serve and was bringing some thunder. She might find play time in the fall just for that.
- All three MB's looked pretty good, and as mentioned by others there was a lot more slide attacks than we're used to seeing from Morgan and Ifenna.
- Considering how little time this team has together, the blocking was promising.
- Natalie Ring brought the kind of power I was expecting. She's gonna be fun to watch this year.
- Kyndal played pretty much all of the UH match and she played like, well, like Kyndal! Jamie mentioned in the chalk talk that a social media commentator took to calling her "Kyndal Volleyball" during the Nebraska match, and Jamie pretty much called her that for the rest of his match analysis. I endorse the nick name.
- I realized at chalk talk check in that Ciera (Cici) Hecht (outside hitter who's career overlapped with Hollann Hans as a freshman and Logan Lednicky as a senior) was one of the women checking folks in. She played her position like a warrior - one of my favorites. My wife and I ended up talking to her for quite a while after the event. A very well spoken young lady and a credit to her school.

Alright here are my thoughts, though take them with a grain of salt because I'm still pretty new to volleyball:

-I said it further up the thread, but Rodriguez looks as good as advertised. She'll definitely be challenging Applegate for the libero jersey.
-Thedford certainly looked good but has some work to do if she's going to challenge Rodriguez and Applegate this season
-Ring unsurprisingly looked to be the best pin hitter that got PT today (Stowers was, I believe, the only player not to make an appearance)
-Fitch and Morris definitely looked like players that got minutes on a championship team
-Hernandez can absolutely crush the ball on a serve
-Manning only got reps as a serving specialist, which I assume means the setter battle is between Musgrove and Nicholson.
-Musgrove is tall, legit got her confused her for Sharp at one point.
-Beyond that I don't feel like I know enough about volleyball to say which setter had the better day
-Lot of slides from the middles, which is new and exciting
-Castle had a couple of big blocks
-Stanojevic played every set and I believe was always the middle that served
-Sharp looked good as well, had a few good kills

Overall hard to draw any big conclusions from one game, especially when the theoretical best player on the team, Stowers, saw no action

I was at both and I think I agree with every point you list above.

- I was glad we weren't running a 6-2. They did swap out setters periodically (because spring game) but not on a strict rotation keeping them in the back row. Yes- Kirra is 6'2" and has great length for a setter when she goes up for a block or even kill
- Hernandez and Manning look like they could both come in as serve specialists. I expected Manning but Amare has definitely been working on this as noted above
- All three MBs served. Kaia was last one to rotate in during Sam Houston, played a lot more in second match. She seemed much more quick and athletic than I remember seeing her play for OSU. Really liked all the slides to the MBs, there is some work to do to get setter/MB timing and location just right.
- Rodriquez is going to be special.
- Stowers and Ring were in back row together more than I expected.

Yeah I do think Fitch is probably the third best pin on the team, but I assume if she was capable of hitting from the right we would have seen it yesterday (if she did during the Houston game someone let me know)

re: your last point, I noticed some weird looking rotations with 2 OHs in the back row in the SHSU game too, wondering what's going on with that
