As the old saying goes, appearances can be deceiving.

That’s one reason Texas A&M’s football game against Mississippi State on Saturday is so important.

The Aggies can learn if their perceived progress is a matter of ascension or deception.

“We’ve improved some defensively the last two weeks,” Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin said on Tuesday. “We’re going to see how much we’ve improved.
