Heisman Hopefuls: Behind the arguments against Manziel

Many remain across the nation who are loathe to give the reigning Heisman Trophy winner front-runner status. Yet, TexAgs' resident Heisman voter explains, their reasoning holds little weight under scrutiny.

Last week a national guest on a local radio show was explaining why he would not include Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel among the top three of his Heisman Trophy ballot.

The reasoning was that Texas A&M’s porous defense enhanced Manziel’s statistics. He felt that Manziel had to stay in the game longer than most Heisman candidates in order for A&M to have a chance to win, so he was able to post superior numbers.
