College presidents are typically really smart.

But John Thrasher, the president of Florida State, did something really dumb last week.

Perhaps getting caught up in the enthusiasm of the FSU Alumni Association’s Kickoff luncheon, the 73-year-old Thrasher predicted the Seminoles would beat Alabama in their football season opener. In fact, he predicted the Seminoles would win comfortably.

“I shouldn’t talk too much trash, but I think we’re going to beat Alabama pretty bad next week,” Thrasher said.
