Seven Super Bowls: Kyle Field, other SEC venues gear up to sell beer and wine

After the SEC changed its alcohol policy in the offseason, Texas A&M and five other conference schools elected to begin selling beer and wine to the general public at sporting events. Andy Staples goes behind the scenes of the operations side of the change.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — If Chris Warner had to set up beer and wine sales from scratch at one of the professional sports venues in nearby Houston, he’d expect about a year of lead time. For Kyle Field, he got about three months. “And Kyle Field is two Minute Maid Parks or five Toyota Centers,” cracks Warner, a vice president of hospitality for Levy Restaurants, the food service giant that holds the contract for Texas A&M’s football stadium.
