Signing day is still months away, but that hasn't kept narratives from popping up as it relates to the work Mike Elko & Co. are doing in the class of 2026. With plenty of time left before prospects put pen to paper, it's easy to poke holes in such narratives.

I love a good recruiting narrative as much as the next guy, and I have seen a few of them pop up on the message boards I would like to address.

First, on the recruiting front, we have to state the fact that Texas A&M is off to one of the hottest starts ever seen from the Aggies. In my 20-plus years covering recruiting, I cannot remember a class where the Aggies entered January with 10 commitments.

That is the pre-NIL era.
