On Friday’s edition of TexAgs Live, Callie Garner took us Around Aggieland with updates from the NFL Draft to exciting matchups in Aggie baseball and softball. Plus, updates on Aggie basketball as Bucky McMillan added to his staff and the 2025-26 roster takes shape.

Football
Texas A&M defensive lineman Shemar Stewart is officially headed to the NFL. Stewart was selected with the 17th overall pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday night.

The junior standout started all 12 games for the Aggies in 2024, finishing with 31 tackles, including 14 solo, and ranking among the team’s top five with 5.5 tackles for loss and seven quarterback hurries.

Looking ahead to the next rounds of the draft, fellow Aggies Nic Scourton and Shemar Turner are also expected to hear their names called.

Baseball
The Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown is back this weekend as Texas A&M travels to Austin to face top-ranked Texas for the first time as conference opponents since 2012.

The series kicks off Friday at 7 p.m. on SEC Network, with games set for 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on ESPN2.

This marks the 378th meeting between the Aggies and Longhorns, and A&M enters with momentum, having won six of the last seven matchups, including three straight in Austin. Last season, the Aggies dominated with wins both on the road and in the postseason.

It’s the first time since 1992 that the Maroon & White will play a three-game series in Austin.

Softball
The second-ranked Texas A&M softball team is set for a marquee SEC showdown this weekend as it hosts No. 9 Arkansas in its final home series of the season.

Game one is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at Davis Diamond. The Aggies, who enter the weekend with a 40-6 overall record and 13-4 mark in SEC play, continue the series at 4 p.m. Saturday, with the finale set for noon Sunday.

Sunday’s game will air live on the SEC Network as Texas A&M looks to close out its home slate with a win over the Razorbacks on Senior Day.

Basketball
Texas A&M men’s basketball coach Bucky McMillan has officially introduced Warren Fitzpatrick as the Aggies' new director of operations and assistant general manager.

Fitzpatrick joins the program from Samford, where he worked alongside McMillan for the past three seasons. He was named Director of Operations in 2022 and promoted to Chief of Staff in 2024.

McMillan also continues to shape the Aggies’ 2025–26 roster with the addition of veteran guard Duke Miles, announced Wednesday. A native of Montgomery, Alabama, Miles has scored more than 1,300 career points and tallied over 300 assists across five seasons at Troy, High Point and most recently, Oklahoma.

Miles started all 34 games for the Sooners during the 2024–25 season, helping lead them to the NCAA Tournament. He was one of just five players in the SEC to shoot better than 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from three-point range, and 80 percent from the free-throw line, finishing the season with 320 points.

Men’s golf
Texas A&M’s Michael Heidelbaugh etched his name into the record books Wednesday, firing a 9-under 61 on the Seaside Course at Sea Island Golf Club to set a new opening-round record at the SEC Men’s Golf Championship.

Heidelbaugh’s score shattered the previous opening-round mark of 64, set by Florida’s Alejandro Tosti in 2017 and later matched by Arkansas’ Segundo Pinto in 2021 and Tennessee’s Caleb Surratt in 2023. His 61 also tied the overall tournament record, originally set by Alabama’s Bobby Wyatt in the second round of the 2014 championship.

It was a standout performance for Heidelbaugh as Texas A&M made an early statement at this year’s SEC Championship.
