2026 Goodyear (AZ) Desert Edge DB Camren Hamiel commits to Texas A&M

The Aggies have gone out to the desert to nab their latest commitment in the class of 2026 as CB Camren Hamiel‍ has announced his intentions to continue his athletic and academic career at Texas A&M.

A product of Desert Edge HS in Goodyear, Arizona, the 6-foot, 180-pound cover man is the 12th pledge for Mike Elko & Co. this cycle.

On tape, Hamiel shows a well-rounded skill set for a prep corner. He’s a fluid mover who’s light on his feet and makes easy transitions out of his back pedal. There’s some evident decisiveness to his game, and he’s more than willing to be physical both in coverage and attacking a ball carrier.

You can view his junior tape below.

Hamiel transferred to Arizona from Indiana after his sophomore season, and he chooses the Aggies over offers from Oregon, Penn State, Alabama, Michigan, Indiana, and many others.

Keep it here as we’ll have more to come soon for our TexAgs Premium subscribers.

Transferring high schools probably depends more on his parents than it being his decision.

I think his family moved from Indiana out here so I don't think he transferred.

Does he play zone?

Can he turn his head around and locate the ball when the WR goes up to catch the ball? Baffling how it seems more often than not how our current CB do not do this

You forgot to add "while flailing wildly".

For about the last 20+ years, we've had two types of DBs - 1) those who seem intent on taking a piggy-back ride on the back of the opposing WR (drawing no fewer than 50 neon yellow flags from the Refs, and 2) those who are seen a good 7-yards behind the WR, flailing wildly.
In neither case do they ever turn their heads around.

Anyway, this kid is wearing a Guns 'N Roses T-shirt, so I like him.
