Around Aggieland (6/6)
On Friday, Callie Garner took us Around Aggieland as Texas A&M baseball adds a new assistant and basketball adds a sharp-shooting international player. Volleyball dropped its 2025 schedule, and two track & field standouts were honored for their service on and off the track.
Baseball
Texas A&M has hired former Aggie standout and 11-year MLB veteran Cliff Pennington as an assistant coach, the program announced this week. Pennington, who played at A&M from 2003 to 2005 and earned All-America honors, returns to oversee infield defense and coach third base. He previously served as an assistant at Dallas Baptist University, helping lead the program to four NCAA Regional appearances while developing multiple All-Americans.
The Aggies also added right-handed reliever MJ Bollinger out of the transfer portal. Bollinger comes to Aggieland after one season at Florida Atlantic, where he posted a 2.01 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 44.2 innings across 28 appearances.
Men’s Basketball
Texas A&M continued to build its 2025-26 roster with the addition of Spanish National Team guard Rubén Domínguez. A former U16 Euro Championship MVP, Domínguez has played more than 150 professional games and helped Spain win gold at the U16 and U20 European Championships.
In 2024-25 with Surne Bilbao Basket, the 6-foot-5 guard averaged 7.6 points in just under 16 minutes per game while shooting 43.3 percent from 3-point range and 88.9 percent from the free-throw line.
Volleyball
Texas A&M volleyball released its 2025 schedule on Monday, featuring 10 non-conference matches, a 15-match SEC slate and the return of the SEC Tournament.
The Aggies will face 13 teams that made the 2024 NCAA Tournament, including eight from the SEC. The season opens Aug. 25 against Minnesota at the AVCA First Serve event in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A&M will also travel to face Rice, Utah, SMU and TCU before hosting the Texas A&M Invitational from Sept. 18-20.
