Statistical trends that point to A&M competing in McMillan's first year

Bucky McMillan continues to preach the need for having a top-five offense or a top-three defense in order to win the league. Though the Aggies return just 1.7 percent of their production, their combined experience, age and a new system should bring hope to A&M.

During one of the first practices I attended in the summer, Bucky McMillan went through historical data with his team to show them what it takes to win the SEC. It’s not uncommon to see their practices start with a statistical breakdown of points per possession or other team stats from practice, but this particular instance stuck out to me. McMillan preached to his team that they have to shoot for having a top-five offense or a top-three defense in order to win the league.
