Fairburn (GA) Langston Hughes RB Carsyn Baker commits to Texas A&M

A few days ago, Fairburn (GA) Langston Hughes RB Carsyn Baker decommitted from Florida, and on Thursday, he committed to Mike Elko & Co. Baker is A&M's 29th pledge in the boat, choosing the Maroon & White over Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky, North Carolina and more.

Texas A&M inked a strong 2026 class on Wednesday morning, but Mike Elko & Co. had another move up their sleeve.

On Thursday, it was revealed that the Aggies returned to Georgia for another top talent when Fairburn (GA) Langston Hughes running back Carsyn Baker‍ announced his college plans.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound standout brings plenty of size, power and speed to the table. The speed is verified. He clocked a personal best 10.61 100m, and he was a state qualifier in the event. It also shows on tape, along with his power as he plants, gets downhill and runs through opposing defenses.

The Aggies originally extended an offer in May of 2024 with coach Trooper Taylor leading A&M’s recruiting efforts. He visited a few times early in his recruitment, and he even talked about planning an official visit to College Station.

Baker and the Aggies ended up going in different directions, but as the December signing period neared, both found themselves evaluating their options and finding a fit.

With his signature, Baker becomes the Aggies’ 29th commitment of the class, and he joins KJ Edwards‍ in the running back room. He welcomed offers from across the country throughout his recruitment, and he committed to Florida in June. Baker decommitted from the Gators on Dec. 1, and he chose the Aggies over the likes of Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky, North Carolina and Georgia Tech.

Widely regarded as a four-star prospect, Baker joins Georgia standouts Aaron Gregory‍, Bryce Perry-Wright‍ and Tristian Givens‍ in the Aggies' recruiting class and adds another dynamic weapon to the group.

Committed? Or signed?

If not signed, then why not? Early signing period is now through Friday.

Don't you know the Texags mantra. Now that he signed with the Good Guys, he is better in every facet of his game.

Ignoring the dumb@$$ comment above.

He has a very simular skill set and simular stats. We would have taken his commitment over Hatten had he chosen us before Hatten.

We were recruiting this kid in early 2024, he took unofficial visits here, and we would have taken his commitment. This is not a random kid from out of state we just called up yesterday. He is a legit player and just as physically talented as Hatton, maybe with even higher upside.

Upgrading from a decommitted recruit to a faster RB signed is a good trade! He should be able to carry at least an extra 15 lbs with no loss of speed.

Either Baker or Hatton fits a need on the team. Fortunately, one of them chose us.

It looks like Baker has the edge in speed and Hatton has the edge in size at this point.

Thought the same. I recognize he's not playing against SEC defenders, but he consistently pulls away on long runs.

His skill set is not like Hatton.

This kid has long speed and seeks the edge. His scouting profile explicitly says he's an upright runner and he's learning how to generate power, as well as the following " Consistently creates explosive plays when given a lane and limited contact at the first two levels." That sounds a lot like Reuben Owens to me, which can still be a very solid SEC back (I personally think this kid's film is more impressive than Owens HS film), but it isn't the power back the site has been talking about.

On the other hand, Hatton runs a lot like Chuba Hubbard and his scouting report mentions running "mad", "north-south", and through contact. These kids have distinctly different styles.
