No. 15 Texas A&M played a Friday doubleheader in San Marcos, and the Aggies split with Tarleton State and Texas State. A&M run-ruled the Texans 15-2 before falling to the homestanding Bobcats 3-1.

SAN MARCOS – The No. 15 Texas A&M softball team scored a season high 15 runs to run-rule Tarleton State in five innings, 15-2, Friday afternoon at Bobcat Softball Stadium.

Texas A&M (17-7) totaled six extra base hits, including three home runs. Mya Perez led the Aggies going 2-for-2 with three RBI, a double and a moonshot for her 10th homer of the season. Perez, along with Tallen Edwards, Micaela Wark, Ariel Kowalewski and KK Dement drove in multiple runs, while Edwards and Kennedy Powell scored three runs each.

Senior Grace Sparks earned her second win in the circle tossing 4.0 IP with three strikeouts, while allowing one run on one hit and one walk. 

The Aggies got started against Tarleton State (16-8) scoring on three free bases and two hits to gain a 3-0 lead in the opening frame. Ol' Sarge's charge carried momentum into the second inning, blasting three home runs. Kelsey Mathis hit the first bomb followed by back-to-back jacks from Edwards and Perez to give the Aggies a 9-0 lead in the top of the second.

Perez began the scoring in the third with a double to right as Frankie Vrazel and Powell scored. Micaela Wark followed with a two-RBI single to center and Paislie Allen grounded out to first, scoring Wark to set a 13 run deficit, 14-1.

Sophomore Larisa Perez recorded her first career RBI, scoring Powell on a ground out for the lone run in the top of the fourth inning to round out the scoring for the Aggies, 15-1.

Taylor Brown made her first career appearance in the circle recording a strikeout, while allowing a run on one hit to close out the Texans, 15-2.

NOTES
• Sophomore Kelsey Mathis added her third home run of the season with a 250-foot shot to center field to lead off the second inning.
• Mya Perez and Kennedy Powell each reached base safely to extend their on-base streak to 27 games.
• Perez added her 10th home run of the season and registered her 10th multi-RBI game of the season finishing 2-for-2, 1 HR, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R.
• Powell, appearing in her 200th career game, went 2-for-4 with one double and three runs, extending her team-leading hit streak to 10 games. The senior stole two bags in a game for the second time this season, bringing her nation-leading consecutive stolen base streak to 37 swipes.
• Tallen Edwards tailed her first homer as an Aggie and 13th of her career. The senior reached base in each plate appearance going 1-for-1, 1 HR, 2 BB, 2 RBI and 3 R.
• Freshman Annsley Groce swiped her fifth base of the season in the second inning, marking her third stolen base in four games.
• Freshman Piper White hit a double in her first career at-bat in the fourth inning.
• The Aggies hit three deep balls in the second frame, the most in an inning since Marist in 2025.
• The Aggies have hit multiple home runs in 10 games this season, while hitting at least one in nine straight games.
• The Maroon & White matched their game high, four stolen bases, last against ACU in the season opener.
• Texas A&M scored a season high 15 run, it marked the sixth time they have scored 10 or more runs in a game.
• A&M moved to 3-0 all-time against Tarleton State, out scoring the Texans 37-3 in the series.

SAN MARCOS – The No. 15 Texas A&M softball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Texas State, after a 15-2 run-rule victory over Tarleton State Friday at the San Marcos Showdown.

After two scoreless innings, Texas A&M (17-8) broke the stalemate when senior transfer Tallen Edwards hit a solo dinger to right field for a 1-0 lead.

Texas State (15-8) answered back in the fourth inning with a two-RBI double to center field, before adding another in the fifth as the Aggies trailed 3-1.

The Maroon & White threatened in the top of the sixth when Micaela Wark walked and advanced to third after a double by Ariel Kowalewski. The Bobcats escaped the jam with a fielder's choice and a strikeout, stranding a pair of Aggies in scoring position.

Texas A&M was unable to capitalize against the Bobcats leaving nine runners stranded going 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position to drop game two of the San Marcos Showdown.

Sidne Peters was saddled with the loss going 4.0 innings with six punchouts, while allowing three runs on five hits.

UP NEXT
Texas A&M will begin SEC play against LSU at Tiger Park beginning March 14-16. Saturday's first pitch is slated for 6 p.m.

• Mya Perez and Kennedy Powell each walked in the first inning to extend their on-base streak to 28 games.
• Tallen Edwards hit a home run in each game, marking the first time she hit homers in consecutive games since 2023 at Oklahoma State.
• Texas A&M has homered in 10 consecutive games, marking the longest team home run streak in the Trisha Ford era.
• The Aggie pitching staff issued just one walk, marking the eighth game this season allowing only one.
• Texas A&M fell to 73-13 against the Bobcats, including a 23-10 ledger in San Marcos.
