His 100 last year was the world's 2nd fastest in the world ever for a 14 yo and his 60 this year was 2nd fastest in world history.

BOOM! A strong distance runner added to the group! Youseff Asslouj of NAIA school Cumberlands, same school as Luca Santorum! He is the indoor NAIA national champion in the 3000, placed 3rd at cross country nationals, and was runner up outdoors in the 1500 and 5000! His PR's are:

1500 - 3:42
Mile - 3:59
3000 - 8:00
5000 - 13:53
8k xc - 23:46

A strong addition to a cross country group who returns nearly everyone aside from Cooper Cawthra and Jonathan Chung. Will also add a healthy Victor Kibiego, and talented incoming freshman Gavin Chapa

Hopefully we can add 1 or 2 more elite cross country additions on the men's side! The women should be loaded with Debora Cherono now on campus, hopefully San Juanita Leal getting healthy and getting up towards the fall, to go with Sophia Bendet, and the Flower Mound girls, as well as the rise of Megan Roberts and Kennady Fontenot!

Anyone else going to Austin this weekend for state finals? My daughter will be competing in the 6A 800 and 1600…she has a great chance to compete for the 800, but who knows in the 1600. She's only a freshman so if it doesn't happen this year, she has a few more years go for it.

Going to be a fun day of racing and should see some new state and national records set.

Wish I could be there, got a family friend competing Friday morning!! It's gonna be a great meet! That 1600 may be one of the most competitive miles at state in a long long time!! Future Aggie Alexandra Fox is in that race! Your daughter ran a hell of a race at regionals!! Anytime you can win region 3, that's big time! From what I've seen at state, that 800 race is always tactical! There's always one runner who tries to take it out super fast going for gold, but if she trusts herself and trusts her game plan, she's got this! Don't let the crowd and bright let's get to her, it's just another race on another day! I wish you all the absolute luck this weekend!!

Get there early cause the seats fill up fast near the finish line!! If you have a handicap placard you can park in the Manor Garage close by! It's a hike from the east campus parking garage and traffic around there can get crazy! Get your parking pass online ahead of time! Stadium is also clear bag and cashless!

Thanks. She's a great kid and is just a natural athlete that loves to work hard. She still hasn't been tested in the 800 yet so it'll be interesting to see how she does against seasoned runners. She is primarily focused on the 800, but we don't know what she's capable of in the 1600…that is going to be a tough group though…. She learned tough lessons at the state XC meet going against these same girls, about running her race, so hopefully she remembers that after the gun. She has great speed so if she can keep up with the lead group she'll have a chance.

Ultimately soccer is still her primary sport so she is having fun with this experience and doesn't feel a lot of pressure…certainly not from us…but if she keeps this up who knows what her future has in store.

I appreciate the tips, we are stoked and plan to get on campus very early. Haven't been into Austin proper in 20 years so we'll check out the campus. Can't wait.

Should be two great races!! I'll be tuning in and cheering her on!! Anything can happen at the state meet, I coached a freshman there a few years ago and the whole time it was about fighting nerves and just making sure she knew she belonged there! It can get to them, they just need to remember they earned their spot on that line! Remind her to have fun!

And that's funny, there's a saying that you don't find track, track finds you! Some people stumble onto the sport and soon it's their entire world! The soccer and track combo is perfect escpecially for the mid distance runners! One of the nation's best sprinters right now is Victoria Cameron who's also on soccer team for Tarleton. She focuses on soccer in the fall and solely on track in the winter and spring! Also Aggie forward Makiyah McDonald was a track star in high school before committing to Aggie Soccer! Your daughter's young, make sure she enjoys every day of it! The running back and forth between the pitch and the track!! Enjoy it all!!! Her future is bright!

Honestly soccer players are the best well rounded athletes on the girls side.
