Flower Mound winning a distance race. Yeah, shocking.

Scanning the results I see a Jalen Lott finished 2nd in 4A high jump and long jump. Just did a search and looks like he is indeed the son of James Lott from Refugio. Won an NCAA high jump championship and played football for t.u.
I jumped against him in the Texas Relays in high school. It was a cold night and in the ultimate power move he won the competition wearing sweat pants. Then he took his sweat pants off and jumped 7' 2.5".

Well my daughter did great finishing 2nd in the 800. She had the top qualifying time but her legs just weren't there yesterday. Finished 9th in the 1600, 11 seconds off her PR from regionals. I'm sure there were a lot of factors at play, but it just wasn't her day. Super proud of her getting this far, an amazing accomplishment since soccer is her primary sport. Looking forward to see her back as a sophomore next year with a little more experience.
My main takeaway from the meet: UT needs to step up their track and field / soccer stadium game. Holy hell what a dump that place is, especially compared to ATM's track complex. I know neither sport are money makers, but it's a bad look to host the state finals in a stadium that is surpassed by most high school / district level multipurpose stadiums.

I'd love to see a 4x800 and put the relays to regular scoring instead of double! This would really emphasize the track teams with a lot of depth to really spread out the relays. You're right, now all you gotta do is get a couple relays into state to win it all. I wanna see a more balanced team with multiple scoring options win!
Been that way since at least 1961.drred4 said:
Why do relays have a different points system from other events? Was it ever same as Individual events?
I have noticed too that many summer track coaches put a emphasis on the relays.
