I heard his pre-race interview or maybe it was earlier in the weekend on Sirius NASCAR last week and he sounded like defeated man.

Will be interesting to see who hops in the 48 for 2027 and beyond.

I always find it interesting when someone can get penalized during a race and still win.

Penalties should bite. 3 of the Gibbs cars got busted for speeding on pit road and they all finished top 8.

That's not a dog at JGR, just a comment about in race penalties.

And of course someone else had to fix a tire in a teammate's pit box. Come on NASCAR. Stop this. Or make the penalty so big that you cannot come back from it. It's competitively unfair to small teams or teams who don't have a teammate in the #1 box. I'm going to die on this hill but it will be worth it.

They say it's a safety issue, but if it's really a safety issue they should be able to stop in anyone's box and have them tighten the tires.

Yep. And I would still penalize the crap out of them. A 2 lap penalty. Lose a set of tires. Lose your crew chief for a week. And by lose them I mean the crew chief gets locked in a motel 8 room with no cell phone, internet access or contact with the outside world for the whole week. With no TV or magic fingers bed either. Your crew has to be the one to service the car and they have to bring their own jack.
